Remy’s single rider line is problematic and inefficient

A week ago we went on Remy’s and when we got to our rat as a party of 6 there was three people in each row in front of us. One of the ladies assigned in the back row chatted with us for a little before boarding stating how she just used the single rider line as her kids are older and they waited just two minutes to get there. I don’t know where her family was placed but they were all in the single rider line. She was really nice and friendly but anyways the nest rat came and the three assigned to the front row and everyone but that lady boarded. I didn’t say anything because she was friendly to us and delay was minimal. She then go onto the next rat by herself……..so the single rider got the entire rat to herself. This seems terribly inefficient to me and I’m unsure how the rest of her party sat but at that point they could have all just sat together……..

Of course when our rat came it did everything backwards…..you know the scene with the mop when everyone gets their individual screen….yep we were backwards watching the other rats in their own screen pod. When we came in a cast member noticed us backwards and we told him and we got to go again forward facing.

Anyways I just remember reading about this somewhere so wanted to share my experience.

This was actually very similar to our experience in March. There waa a party of 4 in front of us and they divided them 2 and 2 (not sure if they chose or the cms) but then there were 2 single riders to make it 3 and 3. Well the rat came and neither single rider got on, (by this time there was a new party behind and it messed up their order) so then the following one came and we sat with the 1 single rider in our row and the 2nd single rider had the row themselves.

These experiences are examples of guests not using the single rider properly, not the single rider line. The guests described in both of these scenarios misused their use of the single rider lines as they should have boarded the rats with the groups they were assigned with, not waited to ride alone.

I’ve ridden single rider (for other attractions) often and sometimes guest are surprised when i board after them but it has never been a problem.

the single rider line introduces these potential inefficiency’s. This type of situation where a guest would just wait for the next rat should be considered.

Haven’t seen the single rider line for Remy, do they make it clear you will be boarding with others? While it could be obnoxious single riders purposefully not boarding with others, I’m guessing a significant percentage don’t know protocol. I suspect CMs and guests will get better over time at this. TT was super efficient at this and the messaging was super clear.

For solo riders in non single rider lines, it does vary how CMs board solos. Some rides they give you your own row, like Pirates or Small World, but then SDMT they pair you up. Honestly, it’s not always clear what they expect me to do. Sometimes they are clear and they do ask a solo to join another party (Safari). Actually had a CM try to stop a couple from joining me in a row on Navi because they had assigned it to me and I was first in. I said I didn’t care and the couple obviously didn’t either so we did ride three across which is comfortable. The CM then had to correct their next boarding after they thought they had stacked folks up properly.

I think it is just awkward for the single rider to share the same bench as two other people who are many times a couple. I think having a divider like on test track is important

As a solo rider (not single) I had this same problem. It was confusing to know if I was to join the previous party or for them if they were to join me. On Remy I’m pretty sure I was assigned the row for myself, but then the two people for the next car pushed through and were on the bench very squished with me. I had a woman basically sitting on my lap, and her extremely long hair flying in my face the whole time. The cm then had to adjust her rows for the next car. (This was before single rider on Remy was available).

But then on buzz I think I made the mistake…I wasn’t really paying attention towards when getting close to the front, and when they asked for a solo party to be pulled forward I responded automatically. I was tired and had just had the negative experience on Remy the day before. when it was ready to board, the bench looked very small for two people so I paused thinking I was supposed to wait, and by the time I connected that I had been been pulled forward in line to sit next to someone in the car, it was too late for me to board. I felt really bad especially as the next car was supposed to be a family of four and they all then hesitated for the next one and I was solo in the car ;/

I am confused though why true single riders are pausing and hesitating. It’s very clear when you go through the single rider line that you will be sharing with others. Solo on the other hand the expectation changes each time so is more difficult to know what to do.

Single Rider is a great concept as long as there are divided seats or the Cast Members use good judgement in a bench seat situation. No one wants to be wedged thigh against thigh with strangers.
I go to WDW solo 99% of the time so I use single rider if it's available. If it's not a busy day, no matter if I use the regular line or single rider, they will put me by myself, otherwise I'm with other people. The only ride it's uncomfortable on is MMRR. They really pack you into those cars and when you get to the dancing scene, I tend to get thrown around and into the other people. Since I'm there solo so much I just ask when they assign me my row if I'm supposed to go with the people in front of me or not.

I've only had it be uncomfortable twice. Once on safari when I was seated with a mom, grandma and a little boy who obviously had sensory issues. Why mom and grandma didn't put him between them I don't know but they sat him on the end so I was seated next to him. Maybe they didn't know they were going to put someone else in the row. I could tell he wasn't comfortable with me sitting next to him so I wedged myself as close to the side as I could. Still throughout the ride he would scream every now and again even though I was making it a point not to touch him. That I blame on mom and grandma. Another time I was in single rider line for EE. The family in the regular line was 3, mom, dad and about 12 year old boy. When it came my turn to be seated they started making a fuss about wanting to be in the front car so the CM told them they would have to wait to the side for the next train. That caused the mom to get angry. Meanwhile, I'm patiently waiting to see where they put me. Finally, dad convinces mom to just get in the car. She gets in and they seat me next to her. She was not happy the entire ride she was frowning and fussing at her family in front of her about having to sit next to a stranger. It was a very busy day and I'm not sure what she thought was going to happen with a family of three.

The lady who was the single rider messed up here - she should have boarded with the others. A CM should have instructed her to do so. Usually the single rider wants to board as soon as possible but the people they are boarding with sometimes don't want them to. I've never experienced it myself, but that's the deal.

I am glad to see Remy has single rider. I wish they would add to more attractions, too. We didn't encounter an issue with SR on Remy last week. Wish they had it for Tiana (as they do at DL) , TSM, and Space. The latter, I say because they are always looking for solo travelers in the line. They should just have a dedicated queue for it, but I am sure the room to do so is the issue. Why didn't they think about that in '75? haha

I have mainly had issues with other parties on TT. I go to sit down, and they don't move all the way over. Either the party I am seated with didn't realize I was going with them or the people were not too nice about me riding along in "their" car. That happened to me once on EE as well. It can make it slightly uncomfortable.

I had that on TT where the 2 people don’t move all the way over for the single rider. I have also seen on Guardians where a single rider didn’t move over to allow other rider to board thus messing up the stack.

I haven’t tried single rider Remy , but majority of my trips are solo, I really don’t want to smush in with 2 other people in the rat.

That happened once with me when I was a single rider. I just climbed over them to the empty seat. I smiled and said "They assigned me to this car" and shrugged.
I had people glaring at me on TT for joining "their" car... :/

For some reason that seems to be one that the non-solo parties are more aggressive about others joining them on (at least per the experiences of other solo riders here).

I haven't had any be aggressive to me...but I have seen it before. Once I was about 4 single riders back when one party started pitching a fit about having others join them. It got so heated the CMs had what seemed to be a manager come over and tell the fussing party that they could accept single riders into their car or they could leave without riding. They opted to do that in a huff. That probably put the kibosh on anyone within eyeshot fussing for a while.

My favorite was when I was seated with a dad and young daughter. When we finished the fast outside part, the dad said to the daughter "Why did you bite me??" She said "You told me it didn't go fast!!" The dad (and I) were just relieved that she grabbed the correct arm to bite if she were going to bite.

We were there Sunday 3-30. Standby was 55 minute wait (early afternoon). We went in Single Rider & 9 minutes later I was sitting down on the ride. I thought it was very efficient! The CMs were directing people & kept the lines moving.

Now I will say the person in front of me tried to close the door not realizing I was also coming in, but they moved over & I sat down. I don't think people in the standby line realize they WILL be joined by other riders if they don't have 3 in their party for a full row. I saw CMs were asking parties less than 6 how they wanted to sit so they could fill the seats with single riders.

I go solo more often than not because it’s much harder for my partner to take off from work than me, and even when she’s with me she can’t do coasters for health reasons so I’m riding solo a lot anyway. The rare times people get salty like that when CMs seat me with them I just ignore them and enjoy myself. They can sulk and have their little attitudes all they want to, I’m having a good time on the ride.

In general people bring way too much main character energy to these parks. When I’m with my partner and a solo is seated with us it doesn’t affect my ride or my day at all. I feel like if you want private VIP experience of these parks then pay for it. Otherwise this is the busiest theme park resort in the world, people who act like their group is the only one that paid money to be there are delulu and ridiculous. But I will say as far as people being salty bc I was sat with them, they’re in the minority ime. I even got adopted by a family on our last trip when the LL for Cosmic Rewind was backed up and they invited me to ride with them and we took pics outside afterwards. :)

Maybe they didn’t want others in their test track ride picture. That is a concern of mine when we are in vehicles with other families and in their ride photos that they may post online. I don’t like having my picture or my kids pictures online.

Remys doesn’t do ride photos though but others do

Ever ridden Pirates or Tiana? Literally everyone in the same vehicle gets the same picture.

Then I'm sorry, but Disney really isn't the place to be. So many people are taking pictures EVERYWHERE. There is no way to guarantee no faces get posted. Unless you wear a face mask like when things re-opened so you're mostly disguised.
