I want a new fridge. The one I want will not fit in the space the old one sits in.
I will have to move some cabinets if I get the larger one I want.
The easiest move, will be to take out the side cabinets by my stove. The new fridge is 36 inches wide. The cabinet is also 36 inches wide.

Do you have to allow any extra space between the wall and the fridge or the stove and the fridge?

Thanks.

I've never seen a stove placed right next to a fridge. I wouldn't think you'd want to do that because I would think the heat from the stovetop/oven would cause the fridge to have to work harder to cool when the stove is on.

But I'm definitely not an expert by any means! Maybe someone else will have better advice!!

We just built a new house and our regrigerator is next to our stove. There is a small cabinet between the two, but not more that 12 inches wide.

We had just enough room between the refrigerator and the cabinet to put in a nice filler that matched the cabinets.

There wouldn't be any room between the two. NOt ANY room... I wondered if this would be a problem. A friend of mine assures me it is no problem with the new refrigerators and their insulation.
:confused3 I don't know though.

I would measure the exact refrigerator you are purchasing to be sure it will fit in the space. Sometimes the mfg will publish the dimensions & you think they are correct, but they aren't. Also be sure that opening the door will not cause any issues & you can get it open wide enough!! Our old house the fridge was next to a doorway & we had to keep the fridge pulled out a little bit, so we could get the freezer door open :(

You should not have any issues with the stove being next to it.

I bet you could find some type of heat reflect tape that you could put onto the cabinet wall to help.

The stove will be on one side, a wall on the other side.
I measured the refrigerator and the cabinet that will be removed, so I think I have that covered ;)

THanks.

I'm pretty sure you have to have a certain amount of counter around the stove in order for it to be up to code. I have no idea what the amount is, but I remember when remodeling my last kitchen we had to keep that in mind.

Hummmm. Ok. I'll have to check on that. I am not planning on doing a 'remodel' so hope I don't have to do that... sigh.

Up until 3 years ago when we redid the whole kitchen we had our fridge RIGHT next to the oven for 40 years and there was never any problem. Most of the neighbors still have their fridges and stoves next to each other around here and there is no issue.

:thumbsup2 THanks SOOOOO much. This is EXACTLY what I was hoping someone would say :goodvibes

Mine is the same way. Stove right next to the fridege. Now...who has a "Wulf" (SP?) stove and how are they?? :confused3

Silly question, but the hinge on the fridge will be on the opposite side of the oven right? I'd be worried about the logistics of people wanting to get in the fridge at the same time I was cooking....guess we spend too much time in the fridge at my house

My fridge is right next to my store. There is a wall on the other side. I would not build a house this way but it works fine (we've been here 17 years). The worst part is when you take something out of the fridge you do not have that little counter space (like someone said they had a small 12" cabinet between theirs). Otherwise, no problem. I've had both regular and side by side.

Well, it is a "French Door" type. So two door on top and freezer slides out at the bottom.... I don't forsee a problem.

THanks for your input. I hope it will work. It will save me a lot of hassle. AND let me get the fridge I want :cool1:

My stove is right against (and I mean touching) my fridge...I have had it like this for the past 15 years without any problems...my freezer (side-by-side) is always fine (not too warm)...by the way, my fridge is 15 years old and still going strong...does not seem to affect it at all. However, I am sure that it is not really the "proper" thing to do...for some reason I always seem to get myself into those type of situations!!:lmao:

It's not the greatest idea for the above reason-there's a bit of energy drain. Also-as others have mentioned it's nice to have that bit of counter next to the fridge to rest things upon as they come out as well as having ample space on both sides of the cooktop to rest hot pans, plates etc. while cooking ...I suppose if you have a counter behind you...

In small kitchens sometimes that type of scenario is unavoidable. But in a larger scale kitchen it makes for a very awkward layout when you have such major points as the stove/cooktop so close to the refrigerator-so much traffic in one area.

With older fridges it doesn't hurt them to be close to a range, but newer models should not be right next to a fridge.

If you are looking for a french door, there are several models that come in a 33" so you wouldn't have to put the fridge next to your range or make your space feel to tight.

I sell appliances, so if you need more info, just PM me.

Our side-by-side fridge is right next to our stove. It's been like this for 7 years. The only problem we notice, is that it seems like when the fan of the fridge is running, it seems to make the stove top get dusty more than normal.

Just something to think about.

Also, BE SURE THE FRIG CAN COME IN THRU THE DOOR!!! We recently had a frig delivered & they said more frigs are sent back because people can't get them into the house.

Frigs are coming LARGE today. we had a hard time finding one to fit into the exisiting cabinet space we have. But we did find one.

A frig next to a stove is not something I would want. Looks-wise & cooking space wise. It might also turn off any future homebuyers.
