Any recommendations on a title company that services Hawaii? I'm a loyal Mason supporter, but unfortunately they don't do vacation properties in Hawaii.

Who have folks used for Aulani resales? The broker is recommending First American.

Thanks!

I’m in process of buying two subsidized contracts and using Hayes Title for one and First American for the other. Both have been good so far.

My contract closed with First American. Whenever I had any questions, I emailed them and they responded promptly. The agent I had was very friendly and helpful. Sometimes I felt like it was taking a while, but they always had an explanation of what was going on, where I was in the process, and what the next steps were. It worked out well for me.

First American, for me, was actually pretty good. All the Aulani resales I’ve bought through this threads’ sponsor were steered to them. They have an office in Hawaii that handled it all, and the staff was responsive and fast.

First American were great for my Aulani contract. The contract was a valentines surprise for my wife and they made sure to tell me the minute they heard I passed. I didn't hear for 3 more days from the broker.

First American should have had some practice by now. When I used them, they were a little green or rusty or just not quite perfect. Mason was great, I agree.

I'm about to purchase an Aulani contract and the title company they are using is Hayes. Has your transaction been going smoothly still? If you have passed ROFR, did they send out your documents fairly soon after estoppel? I have only worked with First American up until now. Thanks for any insight!

I’m using First American. Contract is still in ROFR, so haven’t really experienced their service just yet. I had to email the title officer once so far, and she got back to me within a couple of days. I’ve been spoiled and became used to Cammy at Mason responding within minutes, so Im trying to be patient and fair.

First American did say that I would get closing docs within 14 days after it passes ROFR. I think this is standard, but again, I am used to Cammy sending me closing docs within 14 minutes of passing ROFR.

I just wish Mason Title did Hawaiian properties. Oh well…fingers crossed all goes well.

Mine has a delayed closing so not exactly apples to apples comparison. So far, the process is moving along fine without issues. Hayes was recommended by the broker as they had some issues with FirstAm. This is my first time using both escrow companies so I will have better feedback once both contracts have closed.

Just finished (got points this week) with First American - It took 19 days from passing to deed being closed - 14 of that was getting the contract

Just closed my AUL contract today with First American. Still waiting for the points showing in my account. Not very fast, but they did an outstanding job of communicating.

As a Canadian buyer, I thought it would be very hard to deal with the notary issues in this circumstance. However, First American provided me with a simple solution. So impressed!

What is the max amount you can put on your credit card with either of these companies?

I’ve had relatively good experience with First American in Honolulu, though they get mixed reviews. I spoke to them over the phone a few times initially with some question or another that I had, and followed up with a few emails, so that I might have been a little more familiar to them. Once we passed ROFR, they did what they could to expedite closing, which I appreciated.
