Lynn Beautiful picture. It sounds like you are having a fun relaxing trip.

Flyingdumbo127 Hoping you get into the acute care floor soon and get the care you need.

Good morning. It is 19 now with temps heading to 30. I have a haircut appt today and am seeing Jeff and family. Tonight the snow storm comes in and we are supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow. Next week is also a snow week with wintry mix on Thursday and more snow next weekend. Our trustees sent out an email saying we will never have to shovel our driveways. I am guessing I was not the only one who emailed them.

Have a good Saturday.

Yikes! - I hadn't been looking that far ahead.

Thankfully, I got out of dealing with this first one. - DS and I are on a quick family visit to Florida. (We flew out yesterday.) It is currently 61 (@ 7:20am) but expected to be 81 later.

We met DS's youngest 2nd cousin in person for the first time last night. (Have "met" over Zoom, of course, but he lives in Texas and is 4.) Our visit here was timed to cross over with theirs.

PollyannaMom I am getting back into watching the weather. It used to be a big interest for me. The weather channel was my friend. I look far ahead! LOL! Next weekend looks snowy too but that could always change. I have to plan when to go into the office this week so I looked ahead and pick Wed. Thurs is supposed to be snow and ice. Have fun in Florida. Nice to have a getaway.

I am constantly watching the weather as I never want to drive on anything icy. We are supposed to get wintry mix right at the moment but it hasn't started yet.

I had no worries when I had the big conversion van or my jeep. I would drive to the store with relative ease, but I don't care to do it in the Kia.

It's dull and gray here at 35 degrees. Temp is increasing tomorrow up to 46 but we have Tues and Fri saying snowflakes. Too far out to rely on predictions yet.

I need to schedule a haircut, plus start packing. All clothing I may want to take has been dropped in the spare room.

Will have my car washed enroute, probably somewhere in Florida as I have 3 nights before family arrives by air. If I see snow for my first travel day, I want to be ready to leave a day early.

@PollyannaMom nice to hear going to 81, means I need to look for some lighter clothes. Sometimes this time of year I get immersed in wanting to take too many heavy clothes.

My first couple of nights I'm offsite near Animal Kingdom and have a kitchen plus washer and dryer, so by my Disney check in everything can be clean. Then with the 2 bedroom at Disney we will have a washer and dryer and kitchen so can be ready for the last week in the offsite hotel at Celebration. No laundry that I know off there but I haven't asked as my previous stays were shorter 1-4 nights.

I was only just there 1st week of December but it feels like forever mostly because it's been cold and snowy here. Once I get back to Maryland I won't mind so much as our winter should be almost done. We'll be looking for cherry blossoms by end of March, cross your fingers because we've had rough weather in March in years past but not for a long time. I'll be ready to start digging in the dirt and getting things growing again.

Thank you all more than I can say. I'm not someone who tears up easily but do so at times here. Dear Quackers, this corner of a small room where I am is so depressing and dreary. The bed is also hard as a rock which being so thin makes very apparent. I know it breaks dad's heart to have me here in general and extra when he goes home :'( Nothing encouraging or bright about it. It sure does light and lighten my heart to smile in thanks to God to know extra here and now He is with me. Indeed He is in This Very Room (Church Hymn)

A majority of the time that I spent in the hospital, I was not well. I spent most of my stay in the Transitional Care Unit or TCU. My care was not always appropriate or helpful. I was also given medication I did not need.
Grace of God my last 4 or 5 days I felt a ton better. I was able to finally participate actively in physical therapy whereas I really wasn't able to beforehand due to how I was feeling.

The Acute Care Center wing of the hospital we don't think will work out. It sounds like it is designed for people much further along than I am now. 2 weeks tops. Had my hospital experience been different, I perhaps could have directly moved there. The other hindrance is horribly that my hospital report does not include why I wasn't able to jump into PT the entire time only that I didn't. Facilities, of course, want people who show the PT effort all along. I will say the PT team of two here are very nice and have said I'm doing a great job. I saw one new to me PT earlier this evening who I liked also.

Dad will be calling the person in charge of admissions at another nursing home that he visited yesterday on Monday morning. Dad's first impressions were that this facility is a ton better than where I am now. He was even given a quick room tour. I got to see a picture which sure looked brighter than in here. Please pray that we are able to get a transfer approved ideally, of course, for Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

I need to get stronger overall especially in my legs. My left knee is often sore including on the inside of my leg. It is somewhat contracted from too much time spent in bed or minimally moving. Not fun at all. Reminder to each of you to please stay active!

I am grateful to have wifi here. Phone reception and signal are awful though. Dad and I can talk or text which is a huge blessing. There is no in-room provided phone like there was at the hospital. This second room at least has only one other lady who compared to my prolific roommate in the middle of three bed in the first room is a whole lot quieter. Dad also shared that unlike here the other place did not have residents outside their rooms cursing and yelling. It is also a blessing and relief as you all can imagine to no longer have that threatening and most unwelcome racket right inside my room anymore.

CNA's a few have been wonderful. Overall care can be lacking and extra at night. With the hard beds and noise sleep is very impacted. I have personally experienced an hour+response time to my call light request. Neglect happens here for sure. Sooner I am out of here the better that is for sure!

Dad does bring my mail. Thank you all who have sent me a card. Your extra love and cheer and cheer meant a ton. I apologize for not individually PMing you thanks. My apologies also for unanswered PMs. Not always easy to reply from this bed. Know I read and appreciate your concern, prayers, and kind support all around.

Prayers always all of you are well. I will update as I am able. Love to all.

@flyingdumbo127 It is so nice to hear from you. You are in our thoughts and prayers for sure! It sounds like you are in a difficult place but I am glad there are PTs who are kind and helpful. I do hope you get transferred to a better nursing home. No one should be neglected. Thinking of you and sending prayers!

Judique Sounds like great trip plans. It seems like it has been a long cold winter.

Good morning. It is 25 degrees with about 4 inches of snow on the ground. The crews were out all night plowing and shoveling. It is still snowing a bit but is supposed to stop this morning. Next storm comes in Wed night into Thurs. I saw Jeff and the kids yesterday. That was a nice time. I got my hair cut and had a good chat with my hairdresser who is also a friend. She is very kind and sweet. Today I may try to get out later if the roads are in good shape. Maybe I will hit the gym since I can't walk outside. I plan to make a crock pot chicken chili for the week.

Have a good Sunday. And stay warm and safe.

Mona

@flyingdumbo127 I am so sorry to hear you haven’t been well or getting the medical care you need/deserve. I will keep you in my thoughts and I hope you will be able to move to a new facility quickly. I am happy to hear you were able to start PT. Hopefully that will be the first step to getting you home.

If you are comfortable sending your address via PM I would be happy to put a little get well package together for you. Is there anything you need or something that will help you to pass the time?

Glad to hear you have been able to start PT, Mona!

Had a good time yesterday - went out on my Uncle's boat and spent some quality time with cousins. It's bright and sunny this morning after some early fog, and we are about to head out to breakfast with my Dad.

Good morning. Another day in Paradise, wish I could stay here forever. Can't afford to, but it sure would be nice. The weather has been a carbon copy of the day before ever since we've been here. 63-64 overnite, 78-79 during the day.

Mona, sending prayers that you can get into a much better place. Your recovery would go much faster.

Summer said things are fine at home, except the weather. They were supposed to get snow and freezing rain yesterday, instead they got pouring down rain. Another storm heading that way Tues/Wed.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

@flyingdumbo127 Thinking of you. :hug:

Lynn Glad you are having a great time in Hawaii.

Good morning. It is 19 degrees now with temps heading to around 30. Yesterday I did some house work, work work, and went to the gym. I also shoveled out to the exhaust pipe for my heating system. The inspector I had come in said to watch that because it is on the low side so make sure it does not get covered with snow. I figure if I do it after every storm it will make it easier in the long run. I made a chicken chili in the crock pot. It is good. I made overnight oats, apple pie oats which I will try this morning. I have found some good recipes on Eating well. Next up is a chia seed pudding for breakfast. I will make that today with oat milk for tomorrow. I am enjoying finding new recipes to try. That was not something I was interested in before but now it keeps me busy.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Good morning. Another beautiful day here in Oahu. I have 2 more days after today to enjoy it. We're already talking about another trip, lol

@Snowysmom I had a friend in Syracuse who had that problem with her heating system. One snowstorm she found herself with no heat. The pipe was clogged with snow. When they came, they dug out that pipe and put an extension on it so that it was higher above ground. When we had our new system put in, I made them put a higher extension on it so there was no chance of snow clogging it up.

Off to have breakfast and then heading to the North Shore for some shopping and surfer watching.

Have a good day

PollyannaMom Glad you had a nice trip. Safe travels back home.

Lynn Enjoy the rest of your trip. Nice to make plans for another and have something fun to look forward to.

Good morning. It is 13 now with temps heading to 30. I had my weekly meeting with my boss and I told her I would be in this week on Wed instead of Thursday as we are getting snow then rain here. In her area she said it is mostly rain. She told me she had to go to the office as she had appts in the area so she would take care of the deposits. I did not say no to that. I can work from home all week. She has been good about this. I am going to ask my heating company about extensions for the heat exhaust next time they come for maintenance. Thanks for the idea Lynn. I won $100 in the super bowl squares we did at the condo. I never win anything so I was surprised.

Have a nice day
