Quarantine and chill and kindness chatty clubhouse: Jump in and join the conversation! All is welcome!

Good morning. We had a dusting of snow overnight on top of the 5" we got yesterday. It's 18 degrees out, that will be our high for the next 3 days, but it's not all that bad. I cleaned off the car cover so I could bring it in to dry it off and fold it up till the next storm. I cleared off what was on the steps and ramps. I had a sweatshirt and sweater, a hat/scarf, and a pair of mittens over my gloves. I was out there for about 20 minutes and didn't get cold at all.

I'm going to text Mona with all the good wishes from her Quacker family.

Summer is having heart tests this morning, and if all is good, they're going to discharge her. I don't think she realizes how weak she's going to feel with any exertion, even going from the hospital to the car, and then from the car to the house. At least the kids have been keeping the house clean, and the pets fed. They've stepped up , and it's well past time for that to happen.

Hi @Breezy_Carol Nice to see you!

Have a good day everyone.

Good to hear that Summer is on the mend. The cold will probably zap her also.

And great for the kids! They can do it.

@flyingdumbo127 - thanks for taking the time to send us a message through @lynxstch
Good to know you are getting care!

I am tired of snow and now this cold weather is too much! Next month can't get here fast enough.

Baby came home today and I'd love to share pics but parents have a ban on putting them on the internet.
Big sister appears to be thrilled and wanted to share her stuffies.

I've been lazy all day other than to go out and start and run the car for a little bit. Thought about going to Costco but I don't need anything. Still I would probably come home with a bunch of stuff.

There's laundry to do and I'm skipping it for now.

Hello Everyone. Cold here too, -10 this morning with a windchill of -24, it will be cold for most of the week. Tomorrow I have an appointment, but the rest of the week I think I’ll be staying home. I have been watching parts of the inauguration, in spurts, as much as I can stomach these political events at a time.

I have been dealing with a lot of “after holiday” blues. I wish the time was the same as years back. I know it never will be though. I finally got all my decorations put away. I have a lot, not sure why I still put them all up.

Mona….. I pray you are getting better.
Bobbiwoz…enjoy your vacation
Snowysmom… sorry you had a rough day, they sure do creep up on you.
Lynn… I hope Summer gets some answers.

Stay warm everyone in this cold spell, and prayers for all those touched by the fires.

Tazdev Glad your Dad is home where he can be comfortable and peaceful.

Flyingdumbo127 Thinking of you!

Dazedx3 The post holiday blues are tough. And the weather does not help. :grouphug:

Good morning. It is one lonely single degree here, 1 degree. Temps only going into the teens today. I do plan to hit the gym for some treadmill walking. Yesterday it took a call to the trustees to get my driveway cleared. They had done every one else's but mine. My power of invisibility is high! They even did the driveway on the other part of the duplex and mine is right in sight! Then the trustees sent out an email telling us w all need to shovel a path from the street to the propane tanks in the side yards. It is not part of the snow removal contract. Each duplex has a container in the ground with 2 tanks. AS I was shoveling it out I was thinking, I pay a condo fee every month for this stuff to be done. I thought of those who are older and have chronic health conditions. How are they going to do it? My duplex neighbor asked who shoveled and I told her me. She said she would do it from now on. But we got to texting back and forth about the issues and she sent an email to the trustees saying basically this is not acceptable for the reasons I said. Plus if someone gets hurt or has a heart attack doing the shoveling (and that is tragic enough), it is done on HOA land and the HOA will be liable. We are a 55+ community. I texted Kenny to run it by him and he called. He said he does not want me out there shoveling. This time it is 4 inches but it could be over a foot next time. My neighbor's family told her the same thing and she is about 10 years younger than me. I will even pay a bit more each month to have the shoveling become part of the contract. The other company did it last year. I am guessing many residents emailed them. We have a meeting Feb 4 and my neighbor asked for this to be put on the agenda. I moved to a condo for many reasons and not having to mow the grass or do show removal are the main reasons. I just want this condo to become a peaceful place with no more surprises. Sorry for the long story. Just aggravated by it.

Off to work. Have a good day. Those in the freezing zone, stay warm!

Good morning. It was -2 when I woke up, felt like -10. Sun is out, temp is up to 3 now, heading for 20. One more cold day and then it'll be back to normal winter temps.

Summer called last night to say she's being discharged today, probably being sent home with oxygen in case she needs it. The doctor is still insisting that her low heart rate is normal. She's asking them to set up an appointment with a cardiologist for her.

Her husband and 2 other guys got into some trouble at work and are being sent home for 30 days without pay. A supervisor was involved, but he isn't being sent home. They could file a grievance against him, but they all need the job so no one wants to do it. It was either that or be fired. They are paying for his bus trip home (a 30 hour ride from somewhere in Indiana), or so she was told. She certainly can't drive to get him. Not what they need right now, a month without pay. She's struggling to pay the bills now, I don't know how she's going to manage this one.

Took the trash down to the street, fed the cats, am going to make my grocery list now and put a load of laundry in.

I texted Mona yesterday but haven't gotten any reply yet.

Have a good day.

Just a quick hello it is frigidly cold here and my poor dog is not happy with the walks. We are making them as short as possible so her feet don't get hurt. She is not a fan of cold and snow.

Dad is in the hospital again. It's the one he was supposed to get transferred too. He went foe some tests but decided to keep him and run a lot of tests and keep an eye on him while they figure out what is going on. Plus his heart rate was very low again so they are checking that too. I am tired!

@lynxstch - Glad you heard from Mona

Lynn Thank you for the news from Mona.

Tazdev Sorry your Dad is in the hospital again. I hope they can find out what is going on. Thoughts and prayers for your Dad and family.

Good morning. It is -1 degree here with temps going to 19. So cold! I am keeping the heat up a bit, not too high but not putting it down at night. I went to the gym yesterday as way too cold to walk outside. The trustees here sent out an email rescinding the request to shovel out the propane tanks. They said they didn't think it through and acted in haste. I don't understand how they could think a senior community is able to shovel paths in the snow. I had to laugh though. They must have gotten tons of emails from unhappy residents. I did notice in my area only 3-4 people did shovel. All they need is the snow removal company use a big snowblower, dedicate one worker to snow removal for the 33 paths they need to clear to the propane tanks. If we need to pay a bit more for that then so be it. Today I have errands to do and talk with my NH friend, then QiGong this evening.

Have a good day.

Good morning. -1 now going to 18. Tomorrow in the 30's. They say our cold weather advisory will end at 11 am, but if it's only 18, how is that not still cold? lol

Heading for the market shortly, doing a couple of errands and then coming home.

Summer is home, tired but glad to be home. I hope she realizes she's going to have to take it easy for awhile.

Have a good day everyone

Since I was going to do grocery shopping, I checked my stylist website. She had no one all morning, so I booked an appointment for a haircut. There wasn't any traffic on the highway, Walmart's parking lot was almost empty, the malls parking lot was empty. There were 2 stylists in the salon, mine and another one, and neither had any clients. I got my hair cut, got groceries, did errands, and stopped to get a hoagie and was home by 11:00. The sun is out, and even though the temp is only 18, it feels pretty good outside. Snow and icicles are melting. Kids had remote learning for the third day this week, tomorrow they should be back in school.

I'm ready to strangle Summer. She just sent me a text saying she has to drive to Pittsburgh tonight to pick up her husband, who's on a Greyhound bus. If she doesn't then he has to go to NY, then Baltimore before getting back to town here, tomorrow night at midnight. He's the one who messed up, she's supposed to be resting and staying out of the cold, and now she's going to make a 4 hour round trip drive in the middle of the night.

Lynn Sorry Summer had to drive to get her husband. Did he understand how sick she was and still is? I kind of feel that since he made the mistake at his job and got suspended that maybe he needs to have some consequences and have to take the long bus ride.

Bobbiwoz Hope the cruise is fun.

Flyingdumbo127 Thinking of you and hope you are making positive progress.

Good morning. It is 15 here now with temps heading to around 30. It was nice to be able to walk outside yesterday. I was in the office in the morning. Traffic was a bit heavier at 5 am with more tractor trailers than I have seen in quite a while. The rest stop also had more tractor trailers stopped for the night. Maybe they were catching up after the storms. I went to Market Basket yesterday so I would not have to go over the weekend. I want a grocery store free weekend. Not sure if I will be seeing anyone as Kenny works and Jeff and family always have a busy schedule. When I had lunch with him last week he did say he wishes he could do more to help with my loneliness and anxiety. With 4 kids and their schedules as well as his own he is very busy so I do understand that. I think I will make minestrone soup in the crock pot this weekend. I have a recipe from Eating Well that I want to try.

Off to work. Have a good day.

Minestrone soup - if you like the recipe would you share it? I'm in a soup mood as well.

Bright sunshine, temp will be 34 today. As soon as it warms up, I'm going to wash the windows in the car and pass the shop vac through it.

Didn't hear from Summer, assume she made it to Pittsburgh and back

Have a good day

Question on Summer and family: is there a chance that the husband will spend time helping out since he is 'at home' (I think) since Summer needs some extra care? Or will he sit back and watch tv?

I think you guys raise some very valid points. I'll offer this - based on Lynn's comments it may also be a situation of you can't help those who won't help (or speak up or insist on their own behalf) themselves. What a overall frustrating situation for Lynn to experience.

Just a quick stop by, gotta run up to the Reading, PA area in a few minutes. TaTa everyone!
