PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

This is where we started too. I was set on buying a FW deluxe studio TPV, but DW started to think through this long term and what we really want to live in for a whole week in December. Of all things, the laundry access became a key topic and the full kitchen/2nd bathroom/longer balcony became close second priorities - especially for a longer stay. In the long run, we want those things more than we want to save 207 points, so the 1 bdrm studio TPV got the win.
I’m actually really glad to see how many people are getting points specifically for theme park view rooms. It gives me hope we all won’t be fighting over standard and preferred after all.

Exaclty. And I think that is why it shouldn’t be seen as more than it is because, there were plenty of new buyers of BPK points who could not get access to rooms at their home resort when they bought.

Sounds like this is a benefit for the short term early buyers of PVB tower.
I didn't ask my guide, but I think someone else posted this benefit is only available until 10/29. So yes, definitely short-lived.

ETA: I'm wondering if (GOD forbid) I can't get want what I want at the Tower if they'd give me something at RIV? While I definitely hope to stay at the Tower, I love RIV too and that's my wife's favorite. Happy wife happy life and all. Or a split between the two, I'm looking for a 10 night stay in January. I'm hoping they won't limit it to 7.

In the past the answer is no…But honestly until booking opens and we have some reports, it’s all up in the air

Plus, to use PVB tower points at RIv it would need to be a within 7 month booking and not sure why they’d be giving new PvB tower owners access beyond the tower at this point

That's kind of what I expected as well but figure RIV also has undeclared inventory so maybe they'd say something like "sorry that's not available at PIT but we can get you at RIV." Again, probably a long shot but was thinking it could be possible. My dates are kind of set. I'd be happy just to get on property but obviously PIT and RIV would be my preferences. I think I'm probably over thinking it and shouldn't worry too much.

I think it’s a great idea to ask 👍 but it all comes back to the same place … on Oct. 15 is Mickey going to be magical or miserly? 🤷🏼‍♀️

They would give any new member a chance to book one reservation anywhere regardless of home resort points.

Saw the preview center room today. One studio, one one-bedroom. They're nice, but also on the small side. Except for the view (some of which should be spectacular), I much prefer the current studios. But that's a personal preference. To each their own. What Poly needs are new room layouts other than studios, as Poly has a lot of those already--but oddly there's a lot of studios now in the Tower. That, however, is a different discussion. But the absolute bonkers moment of the tour was when the guide made a point about how the studios even have dishwashers because of Disney's focus on limiting waste. And then three minutes later, once the tour was over, without irony, she handed everyone world's cheapest backpacks, as "gifts," in giant ziplock bags that 90% of the people will simply throw away, likely before leaving Orlando. "So remember: DVC is committed to limiting unnecessary waste, and here now are some unnecessary things for all of you to throw away."

Outside of that--one more observation--I heard two other groups talking about the lack of Poly incentives, specifically why MB is available still for Riv and the Cabins, not Poly. So, as other posters suggested, I do think that there is a group of DVC owners who may be more emotionally swayed. That's probably true. But also there's a group out there who is looking at this from a reasonable financial perspective as well. It's not just us.

I have been laughing for years that they won’t even give you lids with your darn sodas anymore but all of the souvenirs have become completely disposable. I bought 3 cups on my last trip to WDW and none of them made it 6 months. The t-shirts don’t fare any better. They sell pretty things destined to become garbage and then lecture us for creating actually useful waste. ☹️

Don’t get me started on this topic I could go on for pages of posts packed to the character limit.

The best thing about the dishwashers is the real plates that go with them! I don’t need a dishwasher, but bring on the real plates!!

Before I forget….received a call from my guide (at the most inopportune time —was picking up my chatty 5 yo from after school).

She said:
They have the count of each room type (we know that from the POS), but don’t have the breakdown by view category. Guides asked for that on Tuesday but weren’t given the info. I said that’s sort of important info to know where you fare in the DVC Hunger Games.

Many people are buying with the intention of banking/borrowing for alternate year stays (yeah at those point charts and price per point, I get it).

The incentives are only good for a week. I told her I was shocked because while they have the right to pull incentives at anytime they had to know that on sale date. She commented something to the effect that you would want to buy early so you can book on the 15th.

How can the incentives be only for one week when, in writing, it states differently on the initial pricing chart??

I’m not sure I understand the “incentives are only good for a week” tactic. They are pretty bad to begin with and are not enticing me one way or another to be honest.
Either way, I’ll be calling tomorrow to confirm what I want but very specifically explaining I don’t want anything signed or dated until Monday 10/7… for the reasons we all know.

I’m confused. Does she mean that the incentives are only good for a week and then they will be replaced by different incentives -or- the incentives are only good for a week and then there will be no incentives. Not that it matters to my situation, I’m interested in less than 150 points so I don’t qualify ever, I’m just nosey.

That was me, and it was my guide who specifically pointed it out to me.

I wanted to let all of the DUO STUDIO people here know that I got a call today from guest services with an offer to upgrade my current cash booked stay in a duo to a deluxe free of charge. So DVD is trying to get those Duos back. Maybe they will be able to offer FW soon after all?
