Pricing information released regarding 2024 Disney Dining Plan

Will there even be a debate though? I thought Disney would have priced the dining plan closer to $200 a day and allowed you to make dining reservations before anyone else. People would still have bought it and convinced themselves that they were still saving money somehow.
I laughed when I read this because it perfectly highlights the idiocy of humanity. It doesn't matter if you are really saving money, just that you FEEL like you are. This is how companies are getting away with robbing us blind.

It isn’t one size fits all.

The DDP will still save money for those with 2 or more kids under 9 that plan on doing multiple character meals. Our first 2-3 trips we did a character meal just about everyday. Back then we had the 4/3 deal and FD.

If free dining is ever released again it is a money saver for a family of 4-5 people (especially with 2-3 Disney adults) staying moderate or value. There is no room discount that would save enough money for a family of 4-5 people to cover the cost of food.

That is the crux of it isn't it. I expect the reservation mess to get even worse once the dining plan gets rolled out. People will buy it even if it costs them more. Causing character reservation dining to be impossible to get. The scalpers have tools that will allow them to grab all of the character dining reservations. Disney will probably react by making them all 2 dining credits.

I did notice much better dining reservation availability last trip. I think it’ll get worse once the DDP is released.

I see Akershus went to 2 credits for dinner and so is Storybook Dining. I could see more character meals going 2 credits, especially for dinner like they’ve done for Akershus.

I am pretty sure price gouging is only a thing for necessities like gasoline. No one HAS to have soda so you can charge as much as the market will bear. My daughter got iced tea at a restaurant yesterday where we live and it cost $4.59. I got water (cause I am not paying that for a soda or tea ever plus I always drink water with meals).

Really something you drink isn't a necessity? No one needs to buy gasoline. It is a luxury. People existed on this planet for thousands of years without gasoline.

Never mind - veering too far off the topic of this forum

Don’t give Disney ideas to charge for water at sit down Table Service locations .
Starbucks locations have finally made decision to not use their plastic cups with the sippy lids for free water or free ice And I am glad and totally support

The 10 day advance booking window would have been a nice perk for the dining plans .
And turnover would be so much faster for the tables if the dining plan had included the tip.

They could speed things up by bringing the credit card readers to your table to avoid a second trip. Or by letting you check out on the Disney app.

I'm just glad to see a return to normalcy with the debate about whether or not the DDP is worth it lol.. Honestly, it works for some people and not for others. It is worth it for my family and a lot of that reason is because I like to prepay as much as possible because I get anxiety about that final bill. Some people aren't going to agree or understand that and that's fine. That's why we have choices.
Haha I was thinking the same thing. An obnoxious debate about the Disney Dining Plan ? It gives me the pre-pandemic warm fuzzies. And for what it’s worth I get anxious about overpaying for things so I disagree with you. But hey, we aren’t disagreeing about masks or politics .. it’s 2018 Disboards all over again.

My local supermarket currently has bud on sale $20 for 24 bottles, about 80 cents a bottle

They have coke on sale $11 for 3 6 packs, about 60 cents a bottle.

Disney may pay less.
FYI,
Alcohol was previously included in the 2019/2020 plan and it was cheaper by almost $20 and included the 2nd snack.
Disney is definitely ripping us off with this plan.

Discussing it with my sister, we found it's a no go for us. Also it still bothers me that the reusable mugs/cups can't be used in the park. I think USO's coke freestyle are a much better deal and when I've gone, I fill up when leaving the park so I have something for my room or order drinks from Walmart.
I was thinking the same thing. We had two snacks.
Coke doesn't need Disney BUT Coke would not be happy if Disney switched to Pepsi.

I'm skeptical of the claim the soda is literally free. I wouldn't be surprised if the cost of fountain soda is so low people may think the soda is all but free. Pennies per cup. It's theoretically possible Disney rents the equipment but gets syrup free or Disney pays for syrup and gets the machines free
Disney does not pay for Coke products. Coke provides all cans and machines on property to the company for free and Disney keeps the profits. It is advertising for the company and we subconsciously link Coca-Cola to Mickey Mouse. CNBC did a great Documentary about 10 years ago on this. M&M mars also exchanges free advertising for all of the candy sold on property plus the Halloween nights. People who go to the MNNSHP will more likely purchase these candies on Halloween.

In addition, Starbucks does not make a penny on Disney property but gets the advertising. They provide the product and even the service. To have a coffee shop and a Candy Shop on Main Street USA is a Big Deal. Plus look at the Coke ads at Casey's Hot Dogs

Does anyone have a list of what will be considered a snack or quick service or table service when the dining plan comes into affect? Thank you!

Snacks already have the DDP icon next to them today. QS and TS restaurants are specified on the website. TS are typically the ones you need reservations for with a waitstaff that assists you.
