Post Nominal Letters

I think we're talking at cross purposes. I don't want that at all. I'm after an easy and eloquent way to advertise that one has three or more qualifying diplomas without as I said, peppering the client with tonnes of letters. That's about it.

In that case you can suggest the need and the practicalities to the board and that seems about as far as you can control the outcome. Beyond that, you devising a system and conferring anything seems useless. There's nothing wrong with you expressing the need to the board -- and encouraging your colleagues to offer their comments and support for the proposition.

If you're suggesting that you offer your outline for how the system can be designed and the letters can be expressed in a concise and clear way, that's a reasonable idea. You lose me when you suggest you create the system and confer the meanings and designations on others.

The idea is that if your qualification A is accredited with body B they qualify.

Say you have the following qualifications:

DHP Acc. Hyp.
Dip. Hyp. HWHP
Dip. Hypnosis
Dip. Hyp
DHyp

and so on.

You only want to display DHP Acc. Hyp. and Dip. Hyp. HWHP after your name to save space and be concise. So instead of writing all there other ones out or dismissing them, you could just write Dip. Hypnos representing the rest of the qualifications. People searching for it on the net would discover that it represents at lease three accredited Hypnotherapy legitimately. Space saved, clients not overwhelmed, qualifications represented.

Simple.

But as I said, you've persuaded me out of it. So yeah. Not gonna happen anymore.

That's far above numpkin paygrade and not in numpkin speak, so I don't see the merit. Doesn't mean it's not there, I simply can't grasp it. Without having an understanding of what you're achieving or not achieving my opinion shouldn't be persuasive of anything.

Not trying to persuade you of anything :p

Honestly, I don't see what the problem is!

I do beg to differ. You don't need more than a few post-nominal letters, but the more courses you take, the more you learn, the more confident you become, the more effective of a coach you become. I've taken a TONNE of courses (but don't advertise more than a few letters) and I always seek more knowledge. For example, I have a diploma in Past Life Regression. Without it, I would never have had the confidence to practice it. I don't advertise the letters, but they're nice to have. As an aside - I haven't actually done it yet, it's a rare practice.
I'm not discrediting taking courses. I am saying that a string of alphabet soup behind someone's names gets to the point where I would question their legitimacy. To me it comes across as someone trying too hard and then I would move on to someone more focused. If you can just get some letters from a random guy on the internet for what they believe you did then what does that really tell someone? I'm just giving you my thought process. It doesn't make me any more right or wrong than anyone else.

Exactly! Hence the appeal of a catch-all "award"

Nobody is interested in a catch all award when researching services and certainly don't care about initials behind a name if they don't actually do anything beyond online studying.
Actually, in this case, I'd dare to differ. But YMMV. As I have said, I would have loved this for my studies (I don't qualify, but would love it). And friends who are in a more "privileged" position have told me they love the idea. And certainly, I would have been reassured to see this when I was looking for a professional back in the day! Would have been sooooo reassuring! And if I get awarded by this body I've been talking about, the quality would remain high. But I don't expect I'll be awarded this accolade, so it won't happen anyway.

But as I said, YMMV. And you guys have talked me out of it already. So it's not going to happen.

My awarding body has given me the green light, but I'd have to be very hands on. I'm too busy for this at the moment on a base level, so I'm shelving it for now. Maybe later.
