Seems like we're leaning towards a DVC Thanksgiving this year and I'll have to book soon for the 7 month window. There are 5, possibly 6 of us. I expect I will still be able to get a two bedroom villa, but the choices are limited booking this late, so the poll reflects realistic choices. (I excluded Aulani since we will definitely not fly there). Thanksgiving Day will probably center around making and having our own dinner in the villa. Which place would you prefer to book for this, and why?

I like OKW for this. It's "homey", has a nicely-sized kitchen, and the rooms are very spacious. I'm a little grumpy that there are only four dining table chairs, but you can make do by pulling out the smaller table from the 2nd bedroom. Alternatively, if the weather is nice, you could open up the space to the balcony/patio.

Note that I've never been to VB, HHI, or the Treehouses.

I’ve yet to visit Vero but would seriously consider for a trip like this. We love a chill ocean vibe and that would make a unique Thanksgiving for us. The weather is likely still pretty pleasant.

Treehouse villa would be great for this. The SSR 2 bed not so much, as the dining table is pretty small (it will seat 6 but not with much room).
OKW would be my second choice.
Never been to VB or HHI.

There are two dhhirs owners on here that spend thanksgiving every year at dhhir. One of them for 20+ years. I hope they respond to this with their great experiences.

We also spent thanksgiving 2023 at ccv and loved it.

I would pick VB too. The main area is especially nicely decorated for Christmas. Since you haven’t been there, I think it would be especially lovely!

Treehouse villa seems like a great place to do thanksgiving, private cabin separate from others!

We love spending Thanksgiving at HHI. We live in PA, so we drive down to HHI for a week or so and then head down to CCV to enjoy all the Christmas festivities. (I'm not the 20 year vet at HHI, though we plan on doing it a lot going forward!)

OKW would be my preference. Lots of room and I find the kitchen layout easy to work in even with others bustling around. The two-bedroom units especially are very comfortable and spacious.

We did Thanksgiving at the resort once. It was great. Instead of cooking we went to disney springs and got a few things to-go from different restaurants. Main course and sides from Homecomin, some cookies from gideons, appetizers from Boathouse.

ALways wanted a HHI Thanksgiving. It's tough to book, though. Might get grabbed up at the 7 month mark. Might want to walk it.

Now that we live in FL, a Vero Thanksgiving would be cool too.

I might book one of those myself.

HHI studio and 1BR, all I looked at, are already being walked. Cannot book 11/11 means folks are walking. That date will free up tomorrow and 11/12 will be missing and so on, all the way to 11/27. I will look at Vero now and see if same. But that will help narrow your choices.

For 2BR villas, they are all wide open so you should be good. Even at HHI.
Dedicated two bedroom villas are the easiest room category to book at HHI. I always find them available at the 7 month window. Nothing else usually available there, except during the winter.

Definitely OKW. Roomy, easy to fit several folks in the kitchen, nice patio. SS 2B has a very weird layout that sucks, IMO. It's very tight. Never been to VB/SSTH/HH.

I stayed at every place in the poll before except OKW. I know room size is the crown jewel of OKW. So, considering it for that and the new experience.

I do feel the SSR, THV, and HHI kitchen/living room fell a little smaller than the VB kitchen/living room. Of course that might have been partly due to the fact when we stayed at the former places, we had a lot of people staying with us. When we went to VB, it was just me and DW in a 1BR (same common area as a 2BR).

The SS 2B has that pie-shaped foyer that leads to a pinched dining/kitchen area with the table *right* there as you try to walk in. The kitchen is a nook, and the side wall is that fake 6" deep wall that is useless. We just found it very cramped in there to get around, and that wasn't cooking a big holiday meal with all the fixings and stuff and needing things in and out of the fridge/stove/sink.

OKW has just that TV island to maneuver around, and it's a decent storage/work area on the inside of it in the kitchen area. The side area by the table is nice for storage or putting out the serving/family-style bowls of food without being in the way for folks to cook and grab food.

I'm with the minority vote for HHI. Already have it reserved. It will be our 20th consecutive Thanksgiving at HHI. I confess that we don't cook a meal however. We pre-order a cooked meal. So we do eat in our villa.
If anyone in your family likes to run, they can start their morning doing the 5K "Turtle Trot" on the beach in Palmetto Dunes, not far from Disney's Beach House.

I need to think a bit before voting…
If you had BCV as an option, that would be my choice. I believe that’s the only resort themed toward New England.
