Hello!

Wondering if anyone has recently used their Chase Disney Card to pay their dues. I'm interested to see if you were granted the 0% interest for 6 months for the purchase (I'm thinking no, but wanting to check).

You would still be offered the "Pay over Time" option, though, correct?

The changes to monthly payments that rolled out threw off my game plan, haha, so I'm trying to think through how to best capitalize on points, but I'm not ready to pay the full dues right now.

Thanks in advance for your insight! :)

Do the 0% interest monthly payment plan from Disney.

Why not just set up your dues to pay monthly out of you bank Acct…or is the 1-2% Disney bucks from the Chase Card what you’re ultimately after?

Maybe I am not understanding the changes to monthly payments properly so someone correct me if needed. Why don't you just buy a Disney Gift Card Monthly at a Grocery Store (2x Rewards) then input that payment monthly yourself for a balance credit. If not why don't you just pay yourself monthly in an account and then pay the balance in full on your Disney Credit Card and immediately pay off the Credit Card balance with the money you saved.

I just found this in the small print of the disney chase benefits website:
After your promotional APR expires, your standard purchase APR will apply. Offer is not valid for Disney Vacation Club annual dues or loan payments. Developer financing is separate from the credit card offer and is not guaranteed.

Just so people are aware: Disney no longer allows monthly payments using Disney gift cards. You can still set up monthly auto pay, but it must be taken from your bank account; you can't make an online payment with a gift card. For more detail see: Is this a change to paying dues with gift cards?

You can’t do that anymore.

I am not talking about setting up and making recurring monthly payments. You can not just apply a gift card payment to your balance sporadically anymore?

Example. July 3, 2025, I go buy a $400 Disney Gift Card then go into "Pay Dues" and pay my dues even though $0.00 is owed and put a balance of -$400 on my contract towards next years dues?

This all ended in 2024. (Yes, it was a surprise to me as well.)

Here's my short answer. Set up monthly payment option for your accounts. Pay in cash through June on the monthly payment plan. This at least allows you to earn interest on money in your bank account as it's not all paid out in January. And then in July go to target used a Red Card to buy enough Disney GCs to pay off your remaining balance. I believe you'll need to combine the Target $500 (or $100 or $50) cards into one massive GC on the Disney Gift Card site to cover the remaining balance in one single payment. (Just google combine Disney gift cards.). And then use that combined card to pay off your balance. You'll save 5% with a Target Red Card. And 5% is likely more than you'd earn in investments and (certainly) interest from July to the end of the year. This plan basically assumes that most of your available cash is in some investment with an annual yield of 8% 10%, which increases your savings over the year.

Feel free to add ideas or corrections.

You might be able to pay dues in advance for the next year, but there's no advantage to doing that versus waiting until dues are due for next year.

What you cannot do anymore is make sporadic payments toward the current year's dues. According to the information recently added to the DVC site, if you do not pay your 2025 dues in full by February 15, you must be enrolled in a monthly payment plan using your bank account to avoid late fees. Once you are enrolled in the monthly plan, you can't make payments for anything less than the remaining balance -- that is, you can pay in full and leave the monthly plan, but you can't pay in part and keep paying monthly.

I just learned something. I thought monthly payments were to pay dues ahead not spreading 2025 owed dues out over 2025.

I’m pretty sure you can still overpay your current year’s dues by gift card. For example, you can pay an additional thousand dollars in December 2025 that will be credited toward your next year‘s dues in 2026. But here’s how that works. If your total yearly dues are $6000 in 2026 and you overpay $1000 in December 2026 (by gift card) it doesn’t remove your January ($500) and February ($500) payments. What it does, instead, is this - it lowers your annual dues from $6000 down to $5000 which is then divided by 12 so instead of owing $500 a month for all of 2026, you owe $416 per month starting in January.

Ah. That does explain why paying down the total shortly before or after the start of the year is helpful.
