Parking at Fort Wilderness if you are visiting, have an ADR, or participating in other activities but aren't staying there.

So there are a lot of folks who like to drive rather than take Disney transportation. That's fine but I'd like to offer this to manage expectations on parking at Fort Wilderness if you are only coming for an ADR or other activity and thought it would be better to drive. I posted this elsewhere but have copied it here as something of a PSA.

Something to keep in the back of your mind. Disney property was designed so that people staying on site could/would use Disney transportation. You might need to do a transfer here and there, but you can get anyplace.
That being said, overflow parking at the Fort means just that, overflow for the folks staying in the campground. There are trailers and vehicles that won't fit on the sites the campers bring. They go out to the overflow. The amount of spaces aren't meant to accommodate a lot of transient vehicles. During very busy times you'll see trailers and vehicles parked in the fields just inside the entrance, which are owned by the campers (guests) staying at the campground. If you are staying on property and decide to drive to the Fort, understand you might not find a parking space. Finally, there is no car parking at or near HDDR. You will still have to take an internal bus from the Outpost to HDDR if you drive in.
Hopefully this provides a little insight into why the parking situation at Fort Wilderness is the way it is.

I may not have been clear with this post. The intent is informational not for those camping (although the same applies to their outside visitors that can be passed along). This post is for those coming to the Fort for other purposes and will provide a landing spot for someone who has done a search on parking at Fort Wilderness.

Well said. If you are visiting Magic Kingdom the same day, take the boat over. You would still need to potentially wait for a boat that will drop you off within steps of HDDR. but that wait for the boat might be less time than waiting for an internal bus at The Outpost at Fort Wilderness plus you get the experience of seeing different views of CR, WL and The Shoe Tree.
