A quick question.

For 2019 we are staying at POFQ for 10 nights with our Daughter and her Boyfriend.

DH and I have considered nipping off for 3 nights on the Dream. Obviously, we would not be checking out as they will still be using the room, whilst I know that the meal entitlements are pooled and can be used by them - I wondered they could use our fast pass entitlements for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday that we are cruising - if we left them with one of our active bands (we have multiple each)

They would just need to use our bands to gain access to the FP queue

Not sure if it would flag up that the band had not been used to gain access to the park and therefore not work?

Any ideas?

Yes, that is exactly what would happen. It used to be the case that you could use the Magic Band of a person not in the park (say, a friend with an AP or non-expiring pass) to get extra Fast passes but Disney cottoned on to this loophole and now, if a Fast Pass is used and the ticket is is associated with has not been used to enter the park, the MDE account will be frozen. Not sure what happens after that - whether there is a 'three strike' policy - but really not worth the risk.

Don't forget, once you have used your 3 FPs, you can then book another. Then when you've used that, you can book another etc.

Thought that might be the case, was worth asking.
Is there something in place that also prevents family groups with very young children, elderly relatives etc strategically using the passes allocated to non-riders so they can get additional passes for key attractions.

Theres nothing stopping them walking in with their magic bands, using their 3 fast passes, leaving the park, re-entering with your magic bands, and using those 3 fast passes. You just have to check into the park using the magic band in order to get the fast passes working.

The finger scanner would prevent that.

A nonrider has the same Fastpass eligibility as any other ticket holder, so no. They can book what they want, whether they use them or not. (And children under 3 don't need tickets or Fastpasses, so FP can't be made for them.)

It only works if they are in the park already.

No, you can't do that. The tickets are linked to the specific person via fingerprint.
