We (two adults, two teens) spent 4 nights at the GCH for our 3rd, or maybe 4th, spring break trip. We took advantage of the Chase Disney offer so knocked off 30% the room. Instead of being insanely expensive it was just really expensive!
We had a Woods/Courtyard view so overlooked the monorail track that cuts through the hotel. 1st day was an arrival day so no park but we rope dropped DCA and DL every other day depending on the EE day. Security opened the DTD gates right at 6:45 AM every morning and we were typically first in line to the park entry gates.

As a family, our favorite hotel is the DLH, but you can’t beat the proximity of the GCH, even with the DCA entrance closed for construction. The temporary DCA entrance is nice but not something to use for EE I would wager. There is quite a bit if construction at the hotel, Storytellers, the DCA entrance, the VGH wing, etc… I personally found it appalling that the character breakfast at Storytellers was moved to a conference room. Thankfully my kids have long since outgrown any desire for character breakfasts.

Spring break is always a busy time. The Food & Wine Festival adds another layer of crowds and Season of the Force adds yet another layer to make the parks quite busy. These special events, plus ride closures, both planned and unplanned, made for some interesting days in the parks. Speaking of Season of the Force, I have to say, I am not a fan of cramming Star Wars “stuff” anywhere and every where. The confectionary Death Star was cool and all but really out of place in the great hall of the GCH.

Spring is probably one of my favorite times to be at the DLR with the flowers and trees blooming and the generally pleasant weather. We got a bit of rain the first day, which lessened the crowds a bit, but good weather the other days, though cooler than expected. I think 66° was the warmest day we had.
Any day is a good day at Disneyland so we already can’t wait to go back. P.S. Soarin’ over California. I don’t get the love for it.
