My elderly neighbor fell for the "grandma scam". Someone who sounded like a kid called and was crying for grandma, he had been arrested, please don't tell my parents, i need your help, etc. She sent payment in iTunes cards. If I recall (it's been a few years ago), she spent a few thousand dollars in gift cards. She had given several of the numbers when she got suspicious and called her son who set her straight. He also called Apple to see what they could do regarding the cards - not sure if he ever got money back. I couldn't believe she fell for it. I've known this woman for 45 years. She is not stupid...just naive and got upset because she thought her grandson was in trouble. I warned my parents who are also getting older that if they ever get a call that DD has been arrested, she better just leave her there and call me.
For me, I have only had the microsoft scams and I actually enjoyed screwing with them. I typically keep them on the phone for 20-30 minutes before they get so frustrated with me that they end up hanging up. I would LOVE to get one threatening me with arrest...LOL
