October 2025 - What do I need to know?

We found out this weekend that we have an industry conference at Disneyland on October 10 & 11. I don't know the schedule yet, but we know the conference includes park tickets for both days (the conference is actually in the parks), and we have the option to add additional days (at an additional, but discounted, fee).

I'm looking at flying in Thursday evening, doing the conference Friday and Saturday, and then adding a day Sunday. Sunday the 12th is also an OBB day, so I'm crossing my fingers for OBB tickets. Then I'd fly home Monday.

Is there anything I need to know about that time of year/that particular weekend? I know the Monday is a holiday for some folks (Indigenous People's Day/formerly Columbus Day), so should I expect major crowds? Impossible to get OBB tickets? Should we be looking at flying down Wednesday and doing our extra park day (and OBB) on Thursday instead of Sunday? I've never been in October, so I'm excited to see the Halloween decor, but also very aware that I'm pretty ignorant about what to expect at that time of year.

When was the last time you visited Disneyland? The most important thing to realize is that it is going to be very crowded.

Do you mind sharing what conference it is? I would like to update this calendar of events (official and non official) that might impact park attendance. Depending on the size, a conference that includes park admission might be important.

It's one of the busiest times because some schools have fall break that week. Make sure you are logged in to buy the OBB ticket immediately on the day it's for sale. Sunday will be very busy in both parks. You can use lightning lane and mobile order food (hours ahead). The weather is also potentially whack. It could be 90° or it could be raining.

I always tell people that Halloweentime at Disneyland is the FOMO holiday of the year at Disneyland. It is nuts during all of October and honestly the month I don't mind skipping (and I am local with a pass).

That said of the options you gave, go with arriving Wednesday and doing the park before the weekend. That weekend as mentioned is Indigenous People Day (formerly Columbus Day) weekend and a lot of people will take the opportunity for the long weekend (or whole week for fall breaks), so it will be super crowded. The earlier you are there the better, so I would do the weekday option you listed. And OBB will be easier to get on a weeknight than that Sunday.

All of the above. Two years ago we went in October because it was the only time a group of us could go. It was packed and HOT, like Orlando in July hot. We got there for early entry and did a lot, the crowds were manageable until about 10:30am. We bought LL (or whatever it's called at DL) and it made a HUGE difference. We had 4 days in the parks and we were busy all 4 days, from open until almost close. There were no fireworks because we were there Mon - Fri (left Friday evening), so be prepared for that. It was a great time, but definitely a lot of people. I would not go again at that time if I could avoid it. But a busy day at DL is better than no day at DL!

Not impossible to get OBB tickets, but you need to log in as soon as they are offered. The morning of. Track OBB threads here for more info. Set expectations for crowds and you should be fine. Get lightening lane added on to all of the days you are going. Before the conference starts (if possible) rope drop the entry just to get you ticket scanned. While at the conference, i would stack lightening lane passes for the evening after the conference :)

We're not going to OBB on Halloween night, but we will be rope-dropping DCA and staying into the mid- to late afternoon.
Should we expect DCA to be more crowded than usual early on for a fall Friday, less crowded or about the same?
