Not ROFR thread - general discussion

It is a lot of fun if you are OK with the motion. We LL’d it 3x on our trip.

My oldest and I liked Tron…. my wife said the seat design makes her feel claustrophobic… so they went and got Orange Bird softies while my son and I rode it for a second time on our last day.

I am NOT a fan of 3d screen rides (exception for OG Star Tours). Remmy’s was a one and done for me…. Wasn’t big on Avatar FOP either…. it started off really fun, but then the screen got blurry and my brain started to get angry with me.
I wouldn't say I love coasters, but with kids I suck it up and ride most things. I refuse to do the teacups/alien saucers, ToT or Mission Space, and have never ridden RR, Everest, FoP, Tron or GoG, although these are all on my list to conquer. I hate the big drops, but I did discover on tiana's that if I just take a deep breath and scream the entire way down, I don't get that sickening feeling in my stomach! I hear you on the screens, I ride Remy's, it's hit or miss, sometimes I'm totally fine with it and other times not so much. Smugglers is fine as long as I'm not a pilot and don't have to look much at the screen. I swear every time I ride Test Track I feel like my face is gonna peel off at the end, so speed is not something I get off on.

I’m not a roller coaster person AT ALL but Guardians is just superb. I didn’t feel great the first few times I was forced to ride it by my kiddo…but after the 3rd time it wasn’t that bad and actually very fun!
I have a hard time rationalizing the sick feeling as being potentially worth it, but my husband thinks when we go for a quick anniversary trip in June that he can convince me. I'm not ruling it out! On a side note, I went to WDW on a work trip 20 yrs ago with my boss and we were on BTM during the fireworks. No one was in line, so when we pulled into the station they just asked if we all wanted to go again. 3 times around and i was in the bathroom for a while trying to hold everything in. 🤢

I can not emphasize this enough - avoid Mission Space at all costs. It took me almost an entire day to feel better. Never ever again.

Honestly if I didn’t have to suck it up for my daughter, I would never ride any of these. We had an especially *fun* experience last week having to be evacuated off Everest (at the top)…!! But I’ve come to realize that certain coasters aren’t as bad for me as others - BTM is absolutely one of the bad ones 🤣🤣

These also don’t work well for me either. I end up with a big headache. Remy’s…bleh. Runaway Railway has some screens in it too but they don’t really bother me (probably because they aren’t 3D). FOP…was good but not something I’ll do often, because of the screen.

As for other one and done rides: I love the theming of Tower of Terror, but up and down is not for me! Halfway through I discovered there are handles, which I have termed “oh **** handles”, because that’s what I was saying while holding on for dear life. My ten year old says it’s the best ride though. My seven year old is still afraid of the “ghosts”, so we go do other things instead while the braver family members ride ToT.

My sitting by the handles is a non-negotiable on ToT!!

Yeah… perhaps don’t ride GoG then….

The cave scene never quite renders correctly for my eyesight. I always see the 3D components. It's to the point that I don't bother riding it, which saves a few bucks.

Yes, exactly! Which is too bad because the first part is enjoyable.
I 100% agree. I find myself looking around at all the suspended people when I lose interest in the blurry video.

It was like this from day one. Nothing to do with age of the attraction or scratched glasses. It also takes a long time to get through all the pre-shows and actual attraction so it eats a nice chunk out of an AK day.

I personally never understood the hype. I would take Soarin' over FoP any day!

Big Soarin’ fan here… especially at DCA in the aircraft hanger….

I feel like I have to experience it just to say I tried! I’m a big screamer, it helps me get through it…
I think it embarrasses my husband though. We've got an amazing picture of him posing for the camera on Tron, so he's always having the time of his life on the rides.

You're right, you should join Team BCV!

It’s a sign! Join the BCV cult!😆
All of us at team BCV would love to have you!
In second topic… yes… all of the WDW parks are in desperate need of additional guest capacity.

Attractions like Slinky Dog and Snow White’s are fun…. but as a Disneylander I don’t see why they should be more than 30ish minutes except for a lack of alternatives in those parks.
Realistically, I think they would be 45-60m waits at DLR, but no way should they be 120+, ever.
Of, I forgot to mention… my wife said that Guardians Cosmic Rewind is the best attraction she has been on in her entire life… so EPCOT remains by far our family’s favorite park.
Your wife has good taste! It’s the main reason we scheme from LAX to MCO twice a year (we also love AK).
Once again I find myself agreeing with your wife. Cosmic Rewind is worth the lightning lane cost! We did it twice last time. EDIT TO ADD: I have never even seen Guardians of the Galaxy and the ride is still my favorite!

I also find Mine Train and Slinky Dog a bit dull for the long wait; I think their popularity is because they are accessible to younger and smaller kids and other coaster rides there might not be.
Agree with all of this— we’d do multiple LLSP for GOTG if Disney would sell it to us.
My husband agrees with your wife, he absolutely loves it. I haven't worked up the nerve to ride it yet. I feel like a trip around the world showcase might help calm my nerves, but also might increase the odds of me doing the technicolor yawn.
Yeah, alcohol is NOT your friend here. If you’re prone to motion sickness, save it for late in the day and take a motion sickness med (or Benadryl) about 45m before riding…so shortly before getting in line with LLSP or while getting in line standby.

I agree with this. It’s weird (trying not to give away spoilers) the first few times I rode I thought I would puke during the first 10 seconds and after time 4 or 5, I don’t feel nauseous at all, even though my trips are often separated by several months.
The LL’s also work REALLY well at WDW Compared to DLand… the mix points are close to the loading area… quite impressive.

Not sure if this was the case before the DAS changes….
It was NOT the case before the change. It’s probably cut LL waits by 75% or more at WDW, I would say only by 30-50% at DLR… But I think the nature of DLR Makes surges in the lightning lanes more likely (often at least one or two major rides are down, distributing anytime LL passes, which can be used between parks).

If you can do space Mountain, you’re going to be just fine with the drops (Honestly, there aren’t many noticeable drops? Husband says far fewer than Space Mountain) but if you can’t do aliens or tea cups, you may hate it— There’s a decent amount of rotation, which is what many of us find so incredible. I don’t wanna discourage anyone from trying it, but if aliens is too much, it could ruin your day.
I will reemphasize it for you and I've not even ridden it! I've read so many comments about that, IMO they should take that ride out and put something else there.
I have to disagree here. Half my family can’t do mission space, and I personally would rather skip it 🤢— But it’s given my son a huge interest in space and aerospace. Not every ride has to be for everyone and I think the ones that inspire people to learn about science and engineering are worth keeping, especially in EPCOT. They do offer a less intense mission that’s also charming (and less nauseating for me).

Agree on FoP— I’m also a bit of a curmudgeon about Pandora land generally— But it is beautiful. I would do the FoP ride with my kids occasionally if it was a walk on and free, but even with a LL it’s quite a time suck. I’d rather do Safari, Everest or Dinosaur a 2nd/3rd time. I love Tron, but find the ride vehicles for FoP moderately claustrophobic (I think you are in them a lot longer?).

Agreed. The cave has always been this way for me. I half-suspect it is worse for me becaue my contacts only correct for distance vision, and I think the screen in FoP is relatively close, vs. the other 3D attrations where it is far away.

I still really enjoy it---the swooping-over-the-breaking-wave scene is worth the price of admission on its own.

And, in 100% fairness, the scene in Muppet Vision with just Waldo on the black background also doesn't quite render correctly for me.

and take a motion sickness med (or Benadryl)
Ginger gum! Pop a piece in as you get into the station. I went through a brief period on Soarin' of all things, and ginger really helped. It is also MythBusters (Semi-)Approved (tm).

Ugh. Why are there a plenty of reasonable deals on BCV and none on BWV….
Because of the value/resort view studios at BWV.🙃

How was your trip?
Sounds like the trip was a success! We just got back as well - perfect weather!!
It was a very good trip, although I have come away materially poorer than when I left! 🤣

We visited: Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Rivera, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We traveled by: Foot, Boat, Bus, Monorail, Skyliner, and Lyft.

Favorite ways to travel: Foot and Boat
Least Favorite Way: Skyliner

We ate at: BW Pizza Window, Via Napoli, Flying Fish, Brown Derby, Cake Bake (bakery and restaurant ), BW Club Lounge, BW Ice Cream, Walgu Grill (breakfast only), Pineapple Lanai, Narccoosse’s, Citricos, Gaspirilla Grill, Geyser Point, Tiffins, and Toppolinos.

We early entried, lighting lane multi and single passed, and we went to the after hours MK and HS events.

We got things delivered from water butler and door dash.

It was quite the trip.

Biggest takeaways:

1) The signature restaurants at WDW are quite good.
2) The resorts are fantastic.
3) The DVC rooms get worked hard.
4) The cast members in aggregate were absolutely top notch.
5) Most guests were in good spirits.
6) The parks are ridiculously capacity constrained and the line times for most attractions are miserable without a LL.
7) My family absolutely loved the Boardwalk and my wife was smitten with Grand Floridian.
8) Guardians Cosmic Rewind- Amazing!
9) Favorite Park= EPCOT

I suppose the good news is that they seem to acknowledge this and are building out additional capacity.

Ok I quoted too many posts to respond to all, definitely agree BWV is the spot!!! The few extra steps to Epcot is well worth it, and it is a few steps closer to DHS. ;)

Also, my DVCForLess.com BWV saved search has been empty for weeks now!!
I should have bought the last 25pt one when I had the opportunity.

Now that you’re back…

How have you ridden it twice, but never seen it?
