Not ROFR thread - general discussion

I have put my DVC buying on hold. as to close to August to buy and get a good resort when I have 7 nights at Wilderness lodge will full dinning plan free. Im going to get so fat as we never do sit down dinning.

Now just need to sort out one night DVC. So best get on the rental board and hope someone is offloading some super cheap points !

Because the three lowest overall point charts for studios (at WDW) are: Animal Kingdom Value, and then Boardwalk and Old Key West. Depends on the season as to which is cheaper--BWV or OKW. But I'm pretty sure those are 1, 2, and 3--with the exception of SSR having slightly lower points compared to BWV during a couple travel periods. But of those, the only one which has walking access to parks is Boardwalk. I'm pretty sure a lot of commercial renters have loaded up on BWV for that reason. Low points--and they can easily charge well over $20/point for confirmed reservations. And I have no problem with people occasionally renting, but also, yes, I wish DVD would crack down on those with thousands of points who use them almost exclusively for renting.
But for the last 2-3 years it has seemed like BCV owner have believed their points were dipped in gold and that BWV owners (and their significantly larger number of outstanding points) could be found at much better deals.

I do agree that that there are a lot of commercial renters at BWV… and it’s pretty easy to see that by just glancing at the rent/transfer board.

Because of the value/resort view studios at BWV.🙃

How was your trip?
It was a very good trip, although I have come away materially poorer than when I left! 🤣

We visited: Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Rivera, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, and Animal Kingdom Lodge.

We traveled by: Foot, Boat, Bus, Monorail, Skyliner, and Lyft.

Favorite ways to travel: Foot and Boat
Least Favorite Way: Skyliner

We ate at: BW Pizza Window, Via Napoli, Flying Fish, Brown Derby, Cake Bake (bakery and restaurant ), BW Club Lounge, BW Ice Cream, Walgu Grill (breakfast only), Pineapple Lanai, Narccoosse’s, Citricos, Gaspirilla Grill, Geyser Point, Tiffins, and Toppolinos.

We early entried, lighting lane multi and single passed, and we went to the after hours MK and HS events.

We got things delivered from water butler and door dash.

It was quite the trip.

Biggest takeaways:

1) The signature restaurants at WDW are quite good.
2) The resorts are fantastic.
3) The DVC rooms get worked hard.
4) The cast members in aggregate were absolutely top notch.
5) Most guests were in good spirits.
6) The parks are ridiculously capacity constrained and the line times for most attractions are miserable without a LL.
7) My family absolutely loved the Boardwalk and my wife was smitten with Grand Floridian.
8) Guardians Cosmic Rewind- Amazing!
9) Favorite Park= EPCOT

You're right, you should join Team BCV!
I had a good counter offer on a BCV contract and was sitting in the BCV lobby ready to accept and go buy a Beach Club Christmas ornament because of the distance to EPCOT and because of the dedicated 2 bedrooms…. and then my family just started talking about how much they all loved Boardwalk….

And then I look at the BW availability and how 11m from now the BW view studios and GV are being walked…. ugh….

We reliably eat at the BW pizza window every trip, and always wish we’d made a better plan instead.🤣

Sounds like a great time! I know everyone wants the parks to be cheaper, but I assume it would be even crazier there than it already is. It seems that parks need to expand or prices need to be higher.

It’s a sign! Join the BCV cult!😆

I’ve never seen a more complete and ideal trip, well done! Glad the whole family had a great time :)

I think there would be a revolt from the children if we don’t eat at the Pizza Window at least once on our trips moving forward….

The made it clear to us that moving forward my wife and I can go to fancy dinners if we want to, but that it would be their preference and to our economic benefit to just let them eat pizza in the room! 🤣

We love the pizza window as well - and somehow this year they seemed to find a way to expedite orders even with the crazy lines! 🙌.

I will say this - the ONLY amenity keeping me from giving BWV a solid 10 is the lack of legitimate sit-down quick service/lackluster menu at Carousel Coffee. Most mornings we found ourselves heading to RIV, EPCOT or the Swan. I’m assuming Disney has done the math and there’s a legit reason for its exclusion but it’s a big miss IMO.

All that said, I still give it a 9.9!

I believe the club lounge filled that hole for us on this trip (pixie dust that has spoiled us forever)…. although I think we would have just eaten more in the room like we did at the Grand Floridian.

My wife and I joked that we’ll have to order cheeses/fruits/cookies/snacks from the grocery store and set them out everyday and have our own pretend club lounge… 🤣

In second topic… yes… all of the WDW parks are in desperate need of additional guest capacity.

Attractions like Slinky Dog and Snow White’s are fun…. but as a Disneylander I don’t see why they should be more than 30ish minutes except for a lack of alternatives in those parks.

I suppose the good news is that they seem to acknowledge this and are building out additional capacity.

Of, I forgot to mention… my wife said that Guardians Cosmic Rewind is the best attraction she has been on in her entire life… so EPCOT remains by far our family’s favorite park.

Once again I find myself agreeing with your wife. Cosmic Rewind is worth the lightning lane cost! We did it twice last time. EDIT TO ADD: I have never even seen Guardians of the Galaxy and the ride is still my favorite!

I also find Mine Train and Slinky Dog a bit dull for the long wait; I think their popularity is because they are accessible to younger and smaller kids and other coaster rides there might not be.

My husband agrees with your wife, he absolutely loves it. I haven't worked up the nerve to ride it yet. I feel like a trip around the world showcase might help calm my nerves, but also might increase the odds of me doing the technicolor yawn.

I’m not a roller coaster person AT ALL but Guardians is just superb. I didn’t feel great the first few times I was forced to ride it by my kiddo…but after the 3rd time it wasn’t that bad and actually very fun!

It is a lot of fun if you are OK with the motion. We LL’d it 3x on our trip.

My oldest and I liked Tron…. my wife said the seat design makes her feel claustrophobic… so they went and got Orange Bird softies while my son and I rode it for a second time on our last day.

I am NOT a fan of 3d screen rides (exception for OG Star Tours). Remmy’s was a one and done for me…. Wasn’t big on Avatar FOP either…. it started off really fun, but then the screen got blurry and my brain started to get angry with me.

The LL’s also work REALLY well at WDW Compared to DLand… the mix points are close to the loading area… quite impressive.

Not sure if this was the case before the DAS changes….
