Not ROFR thread - general discussion

if you want to stay at BCV over school holidays (which we do) 7 months won’t work in studios or 2 bedrooms.
That is not correct.

Summer vacation and Spring Break are quite literally the *easiest* times to get 7 month availability because people don't like to pay the elevated points cost.

September is a FAR more difficult time to get into Beach Club. Not as hard as November/December, but much much harder than Spring and Summer breaks.

What is a reasonably good price for CCV resales under 200pts to you?
Personally, I'm looking for 120 and under for not stripped. They come up every now and then, and I'm in no rush.
We got a 125pt Oct UY for 125 $/pt last summer and I was pleased with that. Earlier in the year we got 100 pts at $135/pt which obviously isn't as good (it was listed at $157/pt). Neither were stripped, second had all its 2023 pts, first had more than half its 2023 pts. If there are more $110-$120 opportunities on 100pts & lower then I'll be mighty tempted!

Point charts nearly mirroring its 2042 WL-sibling BRV but lasting until 2068? Marvelous!

We actually agree. My fault for not making clear. I meant school breaks around the holidays (Christmas-NYE and Thanksgiving and Easter)— absolutely the hot humid summer break “holidays” are available at seven months if you’re flexible, for now— I do think that BCV, BWV, and BRV will all be more challenging to get into year round as more and more owners are buying points at a premium that only make sense to use at home.

I agree. When we were in our DVC buying phase, I kept thinking to myself “we need to make time to visit WVL because if we like it it’s the best value in the whole DVC system”— but our trips were so busy we never made it over there. Alas, there’s no way my husband is going to sign off on more WDW points for the foreseeable future and we already have at least 100 more than we need.

Don't go to WL. I've warned you. I was solidly "we have enough points" and then we stayed there and hadn't even been to our room when I turned to my wife after walking the grounds and said "we're gonna need more points." I'm pretty sure I even made the Michael Scott face, biting his bottom lip, before I said it.

Alas, I am weak, but so happy with my pile of CCV points now. We took my in-laws this past fall for a 2-bd stay. This fall we've booked a grand villa for both sets of grandparents to join us. Then the next year I'm hoping it'll be a cabin combining various resort points we have at 7-months. I love the room variety for some fun splurge stays and the theming is superb. Plus we love the boat rides, so no monorail isn't a negative to us (we take the boat from VGF to MK over the monorail).

Thank you for the warning! Like you, I prefer the boat to monorail when we stay at VGF.

Is that your preferred method of transportation to the MK?
Yes, my kids get a kick out of the monorail, but I have found it to be unreliable and hate being crammed in the cars at crowded times of day— also, one of the last two times we took it we got stuck between stations for maybe 30 minutes; which was very unpleasant and would have been even worse if we had been standing. At least on the VGF/PVB boat you are almost always sitting and there is personal space. It’s probably less pleasant in very high or low temps?

Same! We rented points at BRV for MW in 2023 and they “kindly” upgraded us to a newly renovated 1 bed from a studio. 3 weeks later we were in ROFR on our BRV contract. ❤️

Totally unrelated to current conversations but didn't know where else to post about my current withdrawals.

In March 2023, we started on the process of our first DVC contract (VGC.) Then almost 1 year later, in February 2024, we started on our second contract (BRV.) Followed by our 3rd (also BRV) in April 2024.

So it's now early 2025....and I'm wishing we could get more points! Seems weird for it to be this same time of year but not to be looking for points. We don't need anymore points at WDW at all. We would like 50-75 more points at VGC. But we never see contracts that small in our use year. And honestly, we don't have the extra money for it at this point anyway...so it's probably best if no contracts pop up.

But I'm still feeling some weird anxious-adjacent feelings or something since I'm not in DVC buying mode right now.

Anyway, just wanted to vent here about it since I know some of you will definitely "get" it.

Yeah, $225 was the 'Service Fee' on the contract we are currently purchasing via Fidelity
They will sometimes let that service fee go. But sometimes you get a more motivated broker in presenting your lowball offer to the sellers if you agree to it--as I'm guessing a chunk of that goes directly to the broker. YMMV.

I can relate to this lol. We just closed on our 3rd contract last month. We do not need, nor can we afford, more points but I still feel the addonitis itch lol
