No Starwars Galactic Spectacular in December 2018?

I'm very disappointed that there are no Star Wars fireworks during my vacation in December. Every time I've tried to see this something gets in the way. First time was big thunderstorm, next time couldn't coordinate it with fp/dining in anotherr park. I thought I'd see it this time since it's a solo trip and I can do anything I want. :worried:

We went Dec 13-17 last year and there was nothing until one showing at the tail end of the trip. It ended up being insanely crowded (I think tp predicted a cl of 6 and ended up being a 9). I truly believe it was due to so many people trying to fit in that only showing...no idea why they don’t add any in early December.

Last year they didn't do the Star Wars fireworks until The Last Jedi was released (12/15). Before that it was just Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam. Since there's no new Star Wars movie this December I'm not sure what they'll do.

SWaGS resumed nightly performances on the 16th in 2016 and on the 15th in 2017, but I haven't seen anything for this year yet.

They haven't even released September dates for booking yet, I think it's too early to push any panic buttons on December yet.

Did I miss something, where are you seeing that?
I printed out the December hours from WDWINFO. States clearly there all the way across from it, none for the Star Wars Galactic Spectacular. I didn't realize they would replace it with something Christmas. I guess that makes sense.

They may or may not be right, but if it were me, I would use only official Disney info before I made any plans.

We are going in December as well. I saw that too but, I think the others are correct about us getting JBJB. You’ll have a great time no matter what they have us watch. pixiedust:

Both coincided with Star Wars movie releases (as it also did in 2015). With no Star Wars movies coming in December 2018 I don't know what way they'll go with the fireworks.

Yes it did coincide. Having been there and involved both years, I wasn't convinced that the movie was the main reason for SWaGS resuming, just when it resumed. I think it was about getting more people into the park. The JBJB show was weak the first year and wasn't being that well received, so bring in SWaGS. Last year's holiday offerings were new and it was unknown what crowds would be. I think resuming SWaGS may have been a little insurance. This year, with TSL being open, who knows ?

I see no one has posted for almost 3 months - sorry to start this again! It's September, and there is still no schedule for this after Nov. 5th still. We did see it last year on Dec. 21st, it was fun to see Jingle Bell Jingle Bam first (It's only ok, but it's short), then this. If there is no Star Wars show (JBJB show at 6:15), has anyone heard if there will be something else? Not sure what the holidays will look like in HS this year, probably similar to last year with the new decorations.

Below is from the SW Guided Tour web page on MDE and it confirms that SWaGS will not be performed.

"Experiencing a reserved viewing of the obi-wan and only Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular nighttime fireworks event (which takes a break from November 6, 2018 to January 6, 2019 when the Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! Spectacular is on display instead for your holiday enjoyment)"

We are going December 12-16 and the Walt Disney World Park hours show Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam at 6:30 p.m. but no Star Wars show during our trip. I hope that changes the closer we get to December!

It shows JBJB at 8:30 that week. I'll be there at that time, too.

Dang. Much rather see Star Wars but at least there's no need to get my hopes up.

I was hoping for both again! We were planning on seeing it Dec. 21, JBJB is showing at 6:15 that night, with a park closing at 8pm I think. Maybe they are planning more and will announce as the time gets closer. Here's hoping!

I am so sad! I have never seen this show and it is my DSIL's favorite Oh well, I will see it some day I guess.

Thanks for posting the update!
