NEW Disney Gift Card Deals and More

Has anyone else had this happen to them? I buy Disney gift cards at Target with the 5% discount, then add the cards to my Disney Gift card account. Our Target stores only sell the cardboard gift cards for the $100 denomination. This is the second time that a digit was missing when I pull off the silver tape. This first time the missing number was in the first 16 digits, and I was able to figure out the missing number because I had bought several cards that were in sequence. This time the missing digit is in the 8-digit EAN code and I can't add the card to my account. I hate those paper gift cards.

I have had that happen. You can still use the physical giftcard but you won't be able to combine it since you can't enter the info online. For future reference, the key to using the paper cards is not to peel off the sticker but instead to scratch it off. It's a pain and it does appear you can peel it but doing so rips some digits off every time.

I'll try to scrap instead of peel and see if that helps. Thanks. :)

Since it's just 1 digit missing can you guess until you get it right?

If you still have the tape, you can try this:

Not sure if you scraped the strip off or peeled it off but if you just peeled back the strip than you can firmly press the strip back over that space where numbers should be then very gently scrape the strip away and the numbers will be back. I’ve done this successfully a few times with the cardboard GCs.

Do NOT do this. That is an excellent way to have Disney lock the card and you'll have to call, answer q's and then they request it be unlocked- if you answered all the q's to their satisfaction. Hopefully a day or two later the card will start allowing transactions again. I locked one of my cards by typing the EAN wrong on the website one time, sometimes you can do it wrong once and be ok but in my case it was once and locked.

@Wood Nymph yeah, we've had many reports over the last couple years from folks having peeled off the numbers on the cardboard ones. Easiest now is to just spend it in person. (There is an app for retrieving the main account number from scanning the barcode but since you lost the security code it won't help you.) Longshot- if you still have the silver part you peeled off, stick it on a piece of paper and scratch it off to see if the number shows up on the piece of paper.

@FoxC63 I haven't seen you post since this post. Hoping everything is okay.

FYI - if you’re *not already* a Best Buy Plus or Total member (i.e. if you’re basic level only), there is currently a promo available for a $25 Bonus Reward with purchase of either membership, through April 27. Not sure if this is a targeted or general offer.

I’m considering the Plus level for a net $25 as it seems members get better / more frequent offers on gift cards. But then I’d need to find something to spend the $25 reward on and not sure what I’d get since they discontinued carrying physical media 🤷‍♀️

The DVC annual dues page used to only require the 16 digit card number. I don't recall if that was changed this year when I paid but you could maybe use it there. Otherwise, you might just need to wait and use it in person.

I tried to use the card to make a payment toward our outstanding resort room balance since I had the 16-digit number. The card wouldn't work. They must have locked it when I made several attempts to guess the number.

I reported the problem to guest services and I am waiting for them to get back to me.

Question on US Bank offers, is it tied to a specific card or any card you have on your account? I have the USbank CVS offer and also have 3 cards on the account. When I activated it, it didn’t list which card to use.

Any card.
  • Shop online or at stores where you’ve activated deals. Make sure to use any of your U.S. Bank cards at checkout.
  • Within 1 to 2 billing cycles, your cash is automatically credited to the card or account used to complete the purchase
Little downside to US Bank and BoA, you only get one offer per person since any eligible card will trigger it (or per account? They both automatically linked all my cards and checking accounts into the same account profile. Not sure if you can separate them out somehow to take advantage.) Unlike Chase or Citi where they can show up on multiple cards and all be separate.

Does the CVS work with Disney Gift Cards?

This happened to me awhile ago with DGC from Target. I carefully pressed the silver strip back in place then I carefully scratched the silver strip away instead of trying to peel off…the missing number than showed up again.
