Our neighborhood gals have been getting together for a couple of years now playing Bunco. We are in a new development and this was a great way to meet everyone. Now that we all know each other the bunco idea is getting boring and we want to liven things up and hopefully get more of the gals to join us.
Of course I'm hosting in Oct. and the idea for the change has just came up and now I'm looking for ideas.
I need a fun theme idea or other games to play. I was thinking something that would tie into fall or halloween maybe. I'm the most uncreative person there is so I need all the help I can get. Where else would I turn but my fellow disers who i know are way more creative than i am. TIA

I know a group of friends who get together and do spa nights in--they paint each others nails (and toe nails), pamper themselves a little bit, and have drinks.
We scrapbook once a month which is fun.
How about movie theme night.... for fun you could do a sex in the city night where everyone dresses up in fun outfits, watch the movie or have it on...
Hmmm you can do a cooking night where everyone tries a new recipe OR where you each bring ingredients for a main dish and create some dishes to take home. Or close to christmas do a night where you all try out some new cookie, treat or candy recipes.
Personally we are all really really looking forward to Mama Mia's movie dvd release! Then we are having a HUGE girls weekend. (We have the soundtracks and play it, make greek food, wear soem fun sparkly clothing, add glitter makeup and or polish) it's fun!

How about a Mad Men party? You could serve 60's drinks, play 60's music and come dressed in a version of the styles, which are in all the stores now anyway.

a few of us get together with theme nights - we have done mani/pedi's then drinks at the local cafe. We are planning disco bowling, a gold party, ceramics party & a bead/jewelry party - think fun!

I'm having girlfriends in for the movie "Chocolate." It's romantic and even has Jonny Depp.

I got a chocolate sampler with small bars from 10 different countries. We'll try them and decide which we like best. I found "Chocolate is my life" napkins at a garage sale for a quarter.

We're having strawberries dipped in chocolate for our snack during the movie.

You could also do a wine tasting party. Have a bunch of different wines and cheeses to go along with it. I've also seen a wine game in the stores that could go with it.

I've also heard a new game called LCR or something is supposed to be fun. We may do this at our girl's night next week.

We started out doing Bunco too, but after a few years, we now call it Drunko!!! Gotta love girl's night with a few glasses of wine!

Have fun!

Our neighborhood just had a wine tasting party! (We had it at a local restaurant, though.)

Other ideas:
- Cooking party (pampered chef, or get a local chef to come)
- Movie night
- Swap clothes night (I think that's the next party we're having... personally I think it's weird, but I figured I'd throw it out there. Basically, everyone comes with some clothes they no longer like/fit, and it's separated by size, and then you trade clothes.)

We're doing a sex in the city night this weekend since the movie came out on DVD tues. We're going to dress up, drink cosmos etc and watch the movie. We have also done a mani/pedi night and everyone brought over their favorite nail polish colors. Have Fun!

We've played LRC at a few bunco's, after we realized that it was 10 pm, and we hadn't started yet! I love LRC - even my kids play (but not with us - LOL).

Piccino is always fun. The biggest hit was when I made a bunch of appetizers. It was very relaxing. Having different kinds of drinks is always a hit. Strawberry daiquiris or something else that you like.

My new favorite game is Blink. It's a two person game, but you could have half the people bring their own deck (something like $5 at Wal-Mart) and have a tournament.
Be careful though, this game can get pretty rowdy. We played it with my family on our trip to the lake this summer (one deck with 8 or 9 people is quick, but still way fun). My BIL wasn't sure at first, but he was in there with the rest of us in no time. He and my sister were even playing between packing trips to the car when we were getting ready to leave.
Since mostly this is a time to catch up with each other, just make sure you have plenty of snacks, which is where your fall or halloween theme can come in. These are women. All we need is snacks and a defined space. Themed food will work as a good ice breaker topic ("oh those pumpkin cookies are so cute!) and we'll take it from there. The really hard part will be getting them to shut up. Or maybe that's just my friends

Along the theme of a spa party, a friend of mine had one because she was writing an article about low cost, non-buying (like pampered chef, etc) parties and we were the guinea pigs. She made up about 4 products (face scrub, mask, foot soak, and one other) that were from basic, inexpensive household items. She gave us each a washcloth and headband along with the recipies. It was really fun and I'm actually planning to do the same thing with my mom and sisters. If anyone is interested I can find the recipies.

That Chocolat party sounds like a great idea too. I may have to try that too. Maybe even just myself. :rotfl: I've seen the movie, but any excuse to eat a bunch of chocolate sounds good to me.

We do women's night once a month as well. A few months ago we did PJs and Pearls. Everyone comes in their PJs wearing their nice jewelry. We always do drinks and snacks and usually just chat.

HOw about an 'adult toy' party? They tend to be fun, get everyone laughing, and you as the hostess would get FREE stuff?

A lot of companies out there have both 'naughty' as well as 'nice' (spa type stuff) stuff, so there would be something for everyone!

Wow!! thanks for the wonderful ideas girls. You would think this should not be a hard thing to do. I'm kind of the one stuck getting the new girls night thing going and I want it to get off to a good start. I need all the help I can get.

Sometimes when my friends and I get together we call ourselves the "Bad Mamas" Other times we have been the Bahama Mama's. With that you could do havaian etc....

Just peaking, I just moved and want to meet the other Moms. They suggested going out to dinner so I hope it becomes a regualr thing and I want to add to the fun.
