Does anyone have any tips on how to keep the little ones cool and happy . Going in June and planning on taking afternoon break. But anything else I can do so they don't melt.

Our kids are -- DD/11, DS/5 and DD/3. We went last August and the heat was terrible. Before we left, I went to Walmart and bought 3 of the water bottle things with fans on them. I think they were called Squeeze/Breeze made by Hawaiian Tropic. The kids loved them(so did I). Maybe you could get something like this. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!

Leave the parks in the heat of the day to cool off and swim. Return at night refreshed! Also, eating lunch in a sit-down, air-conditioned restaurant is a nice way to escape the heat and recharge too!

We have been twice in July with our two sons and here is how we "kept our cool".

1)Drink LOT'S of water.
2)Wear a hat.
3)When you pass a fountain, fill said hat with water and plop it on your head:cool: !
4)Find swimming trunks that look like shorts(L.L.Bean makes great ones). The kids can run in the fountains to cool off,but they dry much quicker than regular shorts so you are still able to do "inside" things without being soaked.
5)Take a mid-day break at the hotel if you can.

I would add:
1. MAKE the kids drink water, even when they tell you they are not thirsty.
2. I found a clip-on battery powered fan with a flexible neck and foam blades in the grocery store for $3. When I took my nephew we clipped it on his stroller so he always had a breeze.

Yes, those spray bottle/fan things are great at the parks. We got ours at Target and were like portable air conditioners. You don't need one for each kid, but they are cheap so it might be a good idea to get one for each so there's less of a chance of fighting over them.

Disney also has begun setting up small covered areas in the parks where they spray you down with a cool mist, so use those whenever you can. I clearly remember there being one in Tomorrowland and another in Future World in Epcot not far from Test Track. If you're not sure where they may be, ask a cast member. Use play fountains whenever you see them (Toontown and Epcot).

Wear a light-colored hat with a brim that goes all the way around the hat to keep the sun off your face, ears and neck. I've seen them in the parks with lovely logos and characters on them (kid-size too), they make great souvenirs. Better that the really silly hats you'll never ever wear anywhere but WDW. (When will you wear the cap shaped like Mickey's glove?) I have dark hair so my head gets really hot, and my hat was a lifesaver. You can just roll it up and stick it in your bag or waistband on a rougher ride.

tell them stories about how when you were growing up they didn't have air conditioning in cars.

worked for me.;)

Besides dumping water on their heads to keep them cool, we put Aloe Vera gel on their skin when they were really sweaty. It was almost cold to them and then cooled their skin as it dried. Did the trick every time.

We took a colaspable cooler to the park with us and keep ice in it too keep cold bottles of water. I took wet washcloths in plastic baggies in the cooler and would place it on the back of the baby's neck we he got hot. I also put ice in the spray water bottles to keep the water really cool.

take some time out and grab some ice cream or maybe popsicles while you are resting.
