I think they had to get the depth, and to be out of the way of others.



Fwiw, once my son got used to the mask, he was fine, and he was maybe 9. But getting the mask sorted caused out sunscreen time to wear off, and he, who doesn’t burn, burned.

I would get masks and bring them, if we were doing it again. Prescription for me. Maybe snorkels, too.

Really good to know. I'll set expectations lower. Tell her that we probably won't make it to the statues and that is ok.

Related to this... I know that you have to wear the snorkeling vest but do they have normal life vests in adult sizes available? I am pretty ok out in the water but I would feel better if I had a normal life vest on if there is that much risk of being tired from the long swim to the statues and want to know if I need to pack mine or if there are adult sizes there. We went in May but I didn't really go out in the water past my knees, but this time I would like to go snorkeling but want to feel the confidence i feel in a vest... If that makes any sense.

I don't think I have ever seen or read about adult size life vests at CC. That being said, the mandatory yellow vest is inflatable and will help you float if you put enough air into it. It would not be appropriate in a 'sinking ship' situation but it should be enough for snorkeling at CC.
