My DH wants to know: Why do jeans get holes at the corners of the back pockets?

DH asked me to post this. He says you guys know everything. :cool1:

He's frustrated because his jeans get holes at the corners of the back pockets way before the rest of the jeans wear out. Anybody know why this is or what to do about it?

if he puts stuff in his pockets they will wear out in the upper corners becuase of the extra stretch and weight. Also, the corners are stitched and there is no give in that area so everytime you bend, sit, move those corners don't really give as much as the rest of the jean....so they get the holes before other areas.

I want to know the same thing. I don't carry anything in my back pockets and a few weeks ago, every pair of my jeans developed a hole in the same place. It was bizarre how it happened to all of them within a two week period. I ended up going out and buying 5 new pairs of jeans but it was really irritating. I didn't really need that many but they were on sale and it's hard for me to find jeans that fit so I scooped up every pair they had in my size. :rotfl:

I think it is because the raised corners rub and catch on things (like the seat of your car, etc). Similarly, my jeans develop holes on the inside seam at the very top of the thigh, because they rub there too. :confused3

In hopes that you get a decent sized hole there and I can see whether you wear tightie-whities or good ole boxers:rotfl2:

Whatever happened to the 70s when we started the holes ourselves in order to expedite the whole "worn out" thingie?

I think it's because men wear their jeans lower and they are sitting on that part of the pocket and/or it's rubbing on the chairs and stuff.

If you wore levis with rivets it wouldn't happen.

My husband wears Levi's and still gets the holes in the back corners of the pockets (and not just on the side with his wallet!!)

This is one thing thats always bugged me too.
