Hi! Heading to WDW late Feb (princess marathon weekend) and we arrive around 6:45pm at Sanford airport on a Wednesday with EEHs at MK from 9-11pm that night. Since we’re staying at AKV and have APs, we thought we’d head to MK for the EEHs. Worth it? Will ride wait times be pretty low? Will we need to arrive at MK before 9pm, or can we enter the park after 9pm (if we’re delayed for some reason)? Are we better off driving straight from the airport to MK, hopefully arriving by 8pm, grabbing a quick bite in the park before enjoying the EEHs, or should we drive to AKV and hop on the bus to MK? All advice appreciated. Thanks!

We always take advantage of the EEH - MK has been amazing for us in the past, but we've never gone during an especially busy time like marathon weekends.

We have a preschooler so we often aren't hitting big rides but within the last year, we rode Peter Pan 4x in a row without waiting. Rode many others and just stayed on. Had a Pirate boat to ourselves. The lines diminish quickly the later it gets.

Honestly, I hate T&TC so much that I'd run by the hotel and jump on the bus. I'd be tempted to even leave my stuff in the car just to get there quicker. You can swing by your car when you return and haul your bags to your room then. Time wise, it's probably a toss up between hotel/bus and drive straight there so you could decide on a whim when you get close to the property.

My only advice would be to pay attention to the firework schedule. If it's around your arrival time, it's a beast to get up Main St to food or rides. Doable, but you gotta duck and weave and walk with confidence.

You can enter after 9pm. We exited Epcot's EEH 10 minutes before it closed and there were still people coming in!

ETA: if you arrive around fireworks and can get there, that's the best time to ride Jungle Cruise. We often have a boat to ourselves during the fireworks! It's not open during EEH so you can't ride it later.

It is doubtful that you will reach MK before 8:30 PM unless you drive to TTC and park. And then after EEH you don't to fight to get on a bus just grab your rental and drive to AKL.

That’s what I’m leaning towards. Since we have free parking, heading straight to MK seems like the quicker option.

Super helpful! Did not even think about navigating through the fireworks crowd.

The crowd calendars I’ve looked at had MK as an “average” day the Wednesday before race weekend, so hoping that the case and it’s not super busy that night.

Magic 8 balls are more useful than crowd calendars in this day and age. Ignoring them and having a plan that is crowdproof instead is a better use of your energy than worrying about vaguely defined arbitrary numbers being correct or not tbh.

After many a MK EEH I have found that starting in Adventureland is usually the best move. Those attractions have far lower waits at the start of the evening than most anything else on the right side of the park, because nobody’s jumping in line for Pirates 2 min before park close the way they are for the likes of Tron and Mine Train. Getting that stuff done first will let the day crowd lines cycle through on the other side of the park and they’ll be long gone by the time you work your way over there.

We were very successful doing this with a later arrival for MK EEH back in September on our arrival day. While Sept is generally slow, the usual nonparty day dynamics spiked crowds. The only difference is we weren’t coming in straight from the airport (we arrived in the morning) and were staying at GF. But we had a light dinner at the resort and walked over to MK at around 9:30ish after watching fireworks from GF. Waits were a tad high for my liking so we started with the Tiki Room to let folk filter out. By the time we got out of the show EEH had just officially started and everything on that side of the park was a walk on. In 2 hours we got a truly absurd amount of rides done by starting there. Heavy hitters too—Pirates, Big Thunder, Mansion, Pan, etc. So much that when we went back on that Friday on a party day to finish up, we mostly saw shows before hopping over to HS.

Tron will still have an inflated posted wait time at the end of EEH but don’t let it fool you. We saved it for the very end of the night, when it was posted 50 and the actual wait was more like 7-10. Same with Mine Train just before it, which was maybe 10-15 of actual waiting, if that. They pull the same tricks to get people out as they do during normal hours.

Thanks! We’ll plan to start in Adventureland.

Completely agree with how great MK EEH has been for us. I’ve done it few times over the past few years. The best “free” perk on WDW property by a mile. And to be honest, I think it surpasses After Hour events, which are not free. At least for MK. Can get so much done in those couple of hours. Unfortunately my last trip they were running the Christmas parties so it wasn’t offered.

Since it was a quick weekend trip and I had a girlfriend flying all the way in from Seattle (girls weekend at VGF) we actually splurged and did the Premium Pass at MK on Saturday of a very busy Veterans Day weekend. That was a total blast (one of my favorite days at MK in the past 15 years) but certainly not free 😂
