I know it's early but the question has just crossed my mind - can you buy mince pies in Florida at Christmas time?

Please let me know as we are going to WDW for Christmas and need to arrange a snack for Father Christmas.

David

LOL David, you must be a better parent than me ;) as we told our DDs that Father Christmas likes to get Oreos from all the children in Florida, not mince pies!!

The last time we were there for Christmas Day I am sure we left milk and cookies out for Santa:)

I dont think the americans eat mince pies so I doubt they sell them there.

Jen :)

Santa had to have Kettle Chips and a glass of Zinfandel from us in Florida last year!

Never saw a mince pie in any of the stores. I do have it on good authority that he will accept Key Lime Pie as an adequate replacement though!

Are you allowed to take mince pies in your luggage to Florida?

I'll find out in a few months time !!!

David

They will more than likely not allow them as they contain fruit same goes for xmas pud even though the fruit is dried

We just went for cookies and milk last year - DD was so excited on Christmas morning that she didn't even look to see if they were gone or not!

We did see some British stuff (Tetley tea, etc) at King's supermarket on I-Drive but didn't notice any mince pies - sorry!

Don't quote me on this one but I think that packaged foods are OK. That is to say, factory made mince pies, still sealed in their factory wrappings, not home made.

I would suggest taking a packet and declaring them when you arrive. The worst that could happen is that they would be confiscated and you would be a few pennies out of pocket!

Some of us Americans DO eat mincemeat pies (and I even bought some when in England, so I know they taste essentially the same!) I had an Italian neighbor who used to make it from scratch, meat and all (our prepared stuff in the jar doesn't have meat, I don't think, and you have your choice of rum or not) but I didn't care for that kind. Much preferred the sweet/fruity kind.

However, they're mostly a Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday item, and you seldom see them pre-made. If you do, it would be from the end of November through Christmas. In most supermarkets there would be a bakery section (often toward the front of the store in one of the corners) with packaged pies.

I don't suppose Santa would like a jar of Mincemeat or the dehydrated box? :) We usually buy that and make a crust.

Perhaps the UK pavilion at Epcot would have them?

Do British kids leave snacks for Santa's reindeer? We used to leave cookies and milk for Santa and some carrot sticks for the reindeer. :goodvibes I used to be more thrilled by the empty plate of carrots on Christmas morning than by the empty glass of milk and cookie with a bite out of it. :teeth:

We certainly do! It's a tradition in my family and I think in a lot of other British families :)

Every year we go to Harrods in London to meet Father Christmas and he told me that he prefers NOT to have Sherry or any alcohol as he does not want to have any difficulties with drink driving laws.

Therefore, we always leave milk, a mince pie, and a carrot for the reindeers.

Best wishes and an early Happy Christmas

Santa gets a nice glass of malt whisky here, If all the houses in scotland do this it must be a "merry Christmas"
Oh and the children pour it so it isnt a small glass either lol.
