We have reservations for each right now at Alamo. I was curious as to which one you think would have more trunk room? We'll be arriving with 2 large suitcases and a stroller. The suit cases won't be in the car the entire trip but we want to make sure everything will fit to/from the airport since we'll have 2 adults and 2 children "in" the car.

Thanks for your help.

I see that no one has replied yet. Post again and tell us which kinds are cars are offered as full size, and which kind of SUV's are called id size by your company. That might help people give you a better idea.

I don't know about Alamo, but if car rental companies are comparable, with Hertz a mid-size SUV would be like a Chevy Equinox (full size SUV would be a Chevy Traverse) while a full size sedan would be a Chevy Impala. I think the SUV would give you more room because you will have an open back area and won't be restricted by trunk size. I have a GMC Envoy, which is now a GMC Terrain - comparable to an Equinox, and my parents have an Impala and I'd say we could fit more in our hatch space than they can in their trunk.

My experience is that the Full-Size car tends to have more trunk room. For instance, Hertz would be a Ford Taurus vs. a Ford Escape. I have driven both of those, and the trunk in the Escape is much smaller than you would expect. Numerically, it's 31 cu. ft. compared to 21 for the Taurus, but that doesn't tell the whole story. That assumes you fill the rear to the roof. Furthermore, the Taurus trunk locks, while even if you're lucky enough to get an Escape with the optional cargo cover, that will severely cut down on your room. However, the Hertz mid-size is a Mazda 6, which we own and has no problem with two large suitcases and a stroller, assuming it's just a stroller and not a "system." It has 16.6 cu. ft. of space. Unless I really needed the feeling of a big, tall vehicle I wouldn't spend the extra money or gas.

Sorry about that, for Midsize SUV they have Ford Escape Or Similar and for Full Size Car they list Chevrolet Impala Or Similar

Being the "psycho planner" I am, I went over to Enterprise with our 5 full-size suitcases ( empty of course :goodvibes.....). We've rented the "full-size" Impala for this year's trip. I had them open the trunk so I could make sure the luggage fit ok, and it easily did. I think you'll be fine with your combination.

Escape is definitely smaller than the Equinox they use at Hertz. The Hertz web site tells you how many adults and suitcases it should fit comforatably, so check the Alamo web site for something like that.
