So we sat down in a shady spot and were enjoying our popcorn for about 1/2 hour before the parade. Does anyone else obbsess over Disney popcorn like I do??? I seriously love it! Anywho, the music starts and up I stood to take pics. Mike is not into the whole parade thing so he just sat and devoured the rest of our popcorn.
I really liked this parade - shockingly - more then the parade at WDW. It was so bright and vibrant. The music was from each movie and there were acrobatics and crazieness on each float. No mickey vs. villains (which seems to be a running theme in WDW), just Disney magic. Really good. No Mary Poppins though (anywhere in DLR that we saw), so that was a let down, I like her. Here are only a few of the pics I took.
After the parade we made our way to Tomorrow Land. We decided to go straight to Buzz for fastpasses but didn't need them seeing as the wait was only 10 minutes. We rode Buzz - I won despite Mike's greatest efforts...
The line for Space was long and the fastpass return time was late so we skipped that. I HATE Star Tours (makes me sick) so we skipped that and nothing else in tomorrow land really interested us so we were done with that section of the park. We headed back towards Fantasy land to check the lines for Nemo and the Matterhorn - both were insane and neither had fastpass options so we decided to hold off on them. It was off to Toontown. Its so cute in this area - much bigger then in WDW. We headed right into the "5 and dime" store so that I could design myself a hat. I picked a black cap with pink ears and a rhinestone Mickey head. I wanted Mike to get a black cap with lime green ears and Mike Wizowski on the front. No go. The cashier asked Mike where his hat was and I explained that every party has a pooper! He didn't want a hat - boo! Oh well. We kept talking to the cashier who asked where we were from and what brought us to DL and voila - pins!!!!! I didn't think DL had the just married pins! I was wrong! And now we had them!!! Yay!!!! Here are some pics of Toontown, my new hat and Mike in the pin!!!
After that we went to visit Mickey's house - so cute but the line to meet him was 90 minutes so that was a no go - our dinner time was looming. Here we are in the head honcho's house though...
After Toontown we had some time to kill before dinner. We went into Fantasy land and rode the Storybook Canal. It was really adorable. They had mini replica's of the towns from all the classic movies.
When we got off, it was time to head over to Blue Bayou. We got a seat right next to the water where we could watch the boats from the Pirates of the Carribean ride pass by (the restaraunt is IN the ride). I was very excited to get such good seats. We both got wedge salads to start which were yummy. I had the jambalaya (burnt my face off but it was good) and Mike had a steak of some sort (that was very good). We didn't get to even look at the dessert menu because they gave us a free chocolate mousse thing for our honeymoon. That was nice but I wanted to try the Monte Cristo so boo! Oh well. It was a nice dinner and we enjoyed the food. The only thing that was sort of annoying was the people yelling "can I have some chicken" and things like that from the Pirates ride. No big deal but um, don't people realize that you shouldn't yell and disturb people while they eat?
After dinner it was back to Fantasy Land. I stopped to take some shots of the castle - well alot of shots. Here is a pic of me taking pics and then some that I took.
Pictures taken, we had time for one more ride before the fireworks. That one ride - Peter Pan's flight. I will NEVER skip this ride in WDW or DLR. It is my number one favorite ride. The line was 25 minutes - no big deal.
After Peter Pan we made our way to Main Street to find a spot for the fireworks. It was soooooooo crowed. It was almost like the crowd from both parks was all on Main Street. I have never seen it that crowed at WDW which is saying something because I have been there during the PEEK of peek season.
That picture DOES NOT do the crowd any justice - it was insane. We managed to find a good spot though and planted ourselves there for about an hour before the show started. I took some video but haven't uploaded it yet. I will though. I said to Mike before it started - "if it manages to make me cry like Wishes does, I will be shocked." Well, the music started and it was just like Wishes - good start. But then, something crazy happened - I turned around and said "these are way BETTER then WDW!" They really were amazing! The music represented all the classic rides from around the park and Tinker Bell flew for a few minutes around the castle. Its hard to explain but - just wow! It was a great show. I tried to find the music to it from that point on but no luck. I want to go back to DLR just to see them again - thats the honest truth.
I picked up my jaw after the fireworks and we attempted to go to watch Fantasmic but the crowd - once again, was insane. So we decided to push Fantasmic off until the next night and went to check out the Matterhorn and Nemo - the lines were longer then ever. We were tired and didn't feel like waiting at that point so we resided to riding Dumbo. Good times. Notice the thrill on Mike's face as we flew in circles.
After the flying elephant, we were pooped - for real! It was back through Downtown Disney and to our hotel. It was another good day DLR.
Next up - California Adventure, the BEST parade I have ever seen and Cafe Orleans...
