Membership Magic Beyond

You can’t use OTUP for 11 months booking. The system won’t allow

You can purchase your 24 using the special anytime within 2025….what UY they work for follow the sane rules that you’d have if you play full price. The thing this special changes is the price.

I can buy points in Dec 2025 to use in my June 25 and June 26 UY with the BOGO free because I am buying them when I am a member of the program and those trips would be 7 months or less
This is confusing but I’m sure it’s just on me … Oct UY here with a cash trip planned in Mar 2025 and Nov 25 … can I now buy 12/12 for the March trip under this ‘deal’ and then buy 12/12 again in April to use on the Nov trip?

No…because the way I am reading the rules you get one set per benefit season….meaning you can purchase no more than 12/12 during 2025…when the trip happens, is not important because the regular rules of OTU points still apply.

Now, someone mentioned that Disney IT is Disney IT, so who knows how they coded it…but, in your case, if you buy OTU points, using the deal. for the March trip, you will have used your OTU points BOGO free for the 2025 benefit season for MMB.

You would certainly still be able to buy OTU points for your November trip, because it falls in your 2025 UY, and your March trip is in your October 2024 UY, but your price for that second set would be full price.

But, if you did that, you wouldn’t be able to get the special in 2026 if you buy for the November trip because you are not allowed more than 24 per UY.

ETA: Now, you would be allowed to buy 5 and get 5 free for the March trip, and then buy 7 and get 7 free for the November trip…

Ok one set of 12/12 and one set of 24 paid I think I understand basically $720 for 48 points used over 2 trips ..$15 a point and I get to control them isn’t too bad of a deal I guess

The T and C explain it. It’s a benefit of the program to get up to 12 free, if you buy up to 12.

You can still buy the other you are allowed by UY, you just will pay full price.

For example, I go in and buy 12 to get 24 in January for a May trip which falls in my 2024 UY, I have used my benefit for 2025.

If I decide I want to buy some OTU points in April for a trip in August, which I now in my June 2025 UY, I can, because its a new UY, but I’m will pay full price for those points.

Unless I am reading the rules wrong, your $99 unlocks the benefit for the BOGO free special for just one set of 24.
Talking to MS this is my understanding as well. But it also sounds like multiple members can purchase MMB so it may be possible for a second person, like a spouse, to buy a second MBB membership and also do the bonus program in a different UY than the one the first member purchased into. I'm still unsure so have this under "wait and see."

That was the piece I was waiting on. But it does make sense to allow it because someone is paying twice.

So, DH buys it for himself and then takes advantage by buying for a trip in our Dec UY membership and I buy for a trip in our June UY membership.

the T&C says that the member + 4 guests will get the lounge priority access. As I understand the member who purchases MMB need to be present when going to the lounge.
This is a negative for us for two reasons. First, my wife and I aren't always on the same trip so the purchaser may not be on the trip. In many situations we can both be obt he room reservation even if not traveling, but if purchaser needs to be there that wouldn't always work. Second, even if on the same trip one of us might walk ahead to join the wait list, but we'd lose thst flexibility as well.

Yes that is what the fine print states but does it make sense for a family that only has 1 use year to each purchase it?

That means I would have to be with my SO in the park and other family members instead of watching DS in the pool while my SO and others waitlist the lounge?
I haven't asked but I would guess it applies to whoever is on the deed.
@erionm was right. I had to call MS.

They said only the person buying it would get the lounge access and would be required to be there. If I was doing laundry in the room they could not jump to the start of the line. Also I would have to call MS to get the tickets and OTUP. I was informed my SO could purchase it if they wanted priority lounge access. We could also get 8 more DL & 8 more WDW tickets and MM for SO. SO could buy more OTUP if we owned a contract that qualified for membership extras in a different use year.

We only have one use year so SO will be dragging me through the park to get to the lounge I suppose as we would not take advantage of more tickets.

Yup it is a big negative. I already purchased I guess I should have asked first as SO does more trips than I do and we can’t transfer from my name either

Many pages here. Have the ticket requirements for 5 day pass come up? MS explained that the MMB purchaser must purchase a 5 day ticket to be able to purchase for others. This could be a problem for people who already have an AP but want to buy a 5 day ticket for someone on their reservation. Of course, the ticket could be purchased and payment applied to a future AP (or other ticket) but that's more complicated than it should be. I understand that Disney does not want the MMB purchaser to become a broker and added to reservations to buy tickets for strangers, but that's already mitigated by the max number the MMB purchaser can buy for.

It' would be easy to fix this by having a member select one contract and then tie to the membership to the contract and allow each member on that contract certain benefits (priority lounge, character meet). Maybe it's the same cost, maybe they call it a "family" membership and charge a few bucks more. Then tie other benefits OTU point bonus, memory maker, and anything else with cash value and say that a second membership needs to be purchased for these benefits with associated real "costs" to DVC.

It does have to be for only those in a household so that limits as well.

Interesting though if one is an AP and you want for someone in your household who is not.

I'm the only one in my travel groups that has an AP. We don't usually travel much more than 8 days a year so it's worth it for one of us to have the AP for the merch and food discounts. I also sometimes travel to Florida for work. There's 0 point in buying one for my daughter or husband or parents even with my new ability to renew at a lower tier AP. I want to buy the discounted tickets only for my parents or husband or daughter. Seems odd they don't consider this, but I guess I can still go with Undercover tourist or discounted gift cards to buy tickets.

Bundle with family d23 membership 🤪

MS isn't exactly sure and is going off the website and some questions when asking around so I hopeful there will be some changes and clarity soon. Clarity like not forcing a ticket purchase if already having an AP. The whole release is odd because DVC doesn't have all the answers, and the product was made available for purchase at this time because, as explained, there's been demand. That said, it feels a bit like they opened early and are using people asking questions like beta testers to think of answers to questions maybe they didn't fully think through, and it's best to think about answers now before program is live.
