Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD: Post Race celebration had been Le Cellier but for the last 2 Dopeys we did Space 220. This year will be my first marathon going solo so not sure what I will do for dinner on Sunday - I probably won't be getting a park ticket for Sunday so I'll likely pick somewhere around Crescent Lake for dinner. Celebration will really be DATW again Monday.

SAFD: The first celebration is parking lot beers immediately after finishing. The real celebration is Victoria & Albert's on Tuesday. In between comes DATW on Monday and wherever I happen to find myself on Sunday night. Never very hungry after a race and often end up somewhere in Disney Springs having cocktails or the champagne flight at Wine Bar George.

SAFD: The past few years, we have celebrated at Biergarten Sunday night after the marathon. Lots of options for everyone (even for me and I'm vegan!), great entertainment, and just a fun celebratory vibe.
I actually got to go to the real Oktoberfest in Munich in 2023 after I ran the Berlin marathon, and we had the BEST time, so now going to Biergarten is even more special because it brings back those fun memories!

SAFD: post-final-race celebration meal is always Beaches & Cream. It didn't go super well at MW, I was super late to my reservation, but they were also running super late seating people--the people seated next to me had a 6:15 reservation (compared to my 6:30) and were seated about the same time as me at about 7:15, and it was a madhouse in there (more than the lunchtime crowd I'm used to)

If I can ever manage to do MW again, I may have to rethink the timing of my B&C reservation.

SAFD: I always look to get a steak as my celebration dinner Sunday night post marathon. Most of the time it has been Shula's (I like the bar option if I am solo) but last year I did Yachtsman. With Shula's scheduled to be replaced, will have to see if the replacement is open or if I need to branch out and try something different this year.

After the Marathon, we ate at Steakhouse 71, which was really good. After the Springtime Surprise, we went to Hoop-Dee-Do Revue and that was a lot of fun. Tepan Edo was post race for the Princess Weekend Challenge. We find that during race weekends, everything tastes really good and we have huge appetites. Big breakfasts are also a treat - Steakhouse 71 again, Kona Cafe is a favorite too. Also Whispering Canyon. Depends on where we are staying.

SAFD: my post-race/s “celebration” historically consists of catching up with running friends in one of the parks to nitpick all of the things we felt could have been done better by rD and why we hate getting up in the middle of the night to race… before discussing which races we’re signed up for/will be signing up for next. :rotfl: Location is irrelevant: we’ve done this over meals, in lines for rides, and on a bench outside a restroom. Put us together anywhere and the tradition happens organically!

SAFD: I don't have any specific tradition or celebration. Like some others, it starts with a parking lot beer in the reunion area once I peel myself off the ground. But in the past few years, I have grabbed a pizza cone from the food truck right after being done. So good to get that grease and carbs in you right after! But after that, it's usually go get cleaned up and head for the park. It's usually Epcot or MK. Whichever park it is, I usually just eat my way through the park, everything and anything. I usually start to crash around 5pmish and head back to the hotel to pack since we leave the next day. I think this year, since it is just me and my wife going, we are going to look to do a sit down dinner somewhere and see if that little rest doesn't help with staying at the park longer that night.

I was at the Hofbrauhaus in Munich years ago with my family. Our youngest DD, about 5 or 6 at the time, looked around and said, "Daddy this is so cool; it's just like we're at Disney."

SAFD: The two times I've done Dopey we went for dinner at Artist's Point on Sunday night. Since I *still* don't have a decent picture with my medal and Dopey, I'll try for an ADR this weekend again. I'll also go to MK on the Monday or Tuesday after the race for medal pictures in front of the castle.

SAFD: No celebration meal for me. I can eat after any race except a marathon. The chips and cheese sound so good in those last few miles but after I finish I can’t get anything in me for a number of hours. And not knowing how I’ll be feeling afterwards doesn’t lend itself to making any plans. We drive home the next day so no options there.

You may already know this, but on the off chance you do not... they sell Zebra Domes to go in the little lobby gift shop at Kidani. They're in the refrigerated section and come 2 to a box. My dad transported some home to my nephew on our last trip with them.
THIS! We always grab a pack or 2 to take back to our room after we eat at sanaa.

Or a four pack at the Mara, that’s my go to snack when we stay at AKL, two domes per night minimum
