Marathon Weekend 2025

Finished just before 6 am for my 2nd fastest Disney 5K by moving time and 5th fastest by overall time. Getting a picture with Pluto before I change my shoes and put my sweatshirt on and head for the bus, since they’re not running yet anyway. I like finishing before everyone has started, it makes me feel fast

Interesting race! Felt like half the people were walking when I started but it opened up after the first couple of photo ops. Ended up doing the 2/3 caballeros and Epcot photo op.

Nice to see people here! Was my first meetup, was overdue lol.

I was feeling fine temperature-wise until the last third of the bus line. Luckily, I only had to spend 5 minutes shivering before I got on a nice warm bus.

I was never able to really get warmed up and kept everything but the Mylar on the whole way. It was nice to get straight onto a bus and out of the wind afterwards. It would've been nicer if the bus had been running with the heat on, but shiverers can't be choosers, I guess...

I've never been so happy to be wearing a wig! I kept the beanie on the whole time but dumped the hand warmers from my gloves by mile one. Used my quarter zip zipper to regulate temp and randomly took my gloves off. I ran intervals until the park, stopped for Mickey and Odyssey bathroom, fake ran for photopass, but mostly walked the rest.

Oh and I'm a bag check convert. I chilled right down at the end and putting that puffer vest on was just the thing. Nice seeing everyone who made the meetup this morning!

Interesting. My box had Skittles and a Nature Valley Oat & Honey bar instead of the M&Ms and fruit gummies. I wonder what other variability there might be.

Great race this morning. It was cold but not all that bad, better than I was expecting. Mylar and hand warmers in the corral worked well.

Maybe just luck of the draw with where I was in B but that was easily the least crowded/smoothest Disney 5k corral and race start experience I can remember. DW who was in D doesn’t share that opinion though.

Glad we tried driving - that was easy and the few extra minutes of warmth when arriving and the quicker getaway at the end was nice.

That course is an Epcot lovers dream, lots of great park time. Although maybe I’m dense here, but not sure I totally got the musical theme?

Great seeing everyone at the meetup.

Fun race - stayed relatively warm until the end so had the right mix of layers. I’m also a convert to bag check as putting on a winter jacket after the race was so much better than Mylar!

Also - we Canadians apparently had the only lineup for pictures with the cast members from the pavilion. There were at least 6 ahead of me when I stopped!

One thing I didn’t expect was to set a PR today. At 1:25 this is my slowest 5k ever

Now time for a nap.

I think 3:30? Could do a little later too? 330 gives anyone who likes to be at their corral early time to do a pic and drop something at bag check if needed.

Great seeing everyone at the pole this morning. As always, nice to put actual faces to names/profile pics. Great way to start off MW!

I thought the A group was a little more crowded than normal. I definitely heard a couple of people say they have no idea why they were in A. Lots of walkers right out of the gate in that group also.

Overall I thought it was a good run. I thought they kind of hid the characters and saw some people turn around after they realized they passed up a character stop.

In line for FOP at AK and it definitely feels colder than it did at race time.

On to 10k. 1 down, 3 to go.

Sorry we did not get to see u guys. By the time we got through the line for Big Bad wolf the corrals opened up and we went to go get in line.

Man sooo happy for my fluffy robe today. My mom was cold in her outfit even though I warned her that it will feel colder while we waited and she should bring the myler blanket. Not sure if I will get my mom ro run a 5k with me again...

On course pics we got Pinocchio and 2 of three 3 caballeros.

Apparently they are doing the runs this weekend based off decades again... soo it was just all old characters. 30 and 40s I heard them say.

So 10k I guess will be 50 and 60s tomorrow.

Now I am chilling in our private hot tub.... I have never been more happy .

Cold race but felt perfect! Had on leggings, long sleeve plus tank, light windbreaker, and vest. I was perfect for race (would have been too hot for anything longer) but definitely chilled post race when doing photos. We did all photos but Pinocchio and finished in about an hour. Loved this course!

Girl on the bus next to me was having the same problem in the app, and when she entered her code on the website, it said she'd already linked, so it seems like the invalid code thing is false and it's actually working. But try the website just to be sure

Fun to meet a few more of you in person this morning! Agree that the corrals seemed to be smoother to load. I was in C. But I also felt like there were a bunch of FAST runners that were zooming in and out from behind. Maybe the truly speedy crew that ended up in D?

Didn’t stop for any characters today. Those lines were CRAZY long. I did snag a dopey pic after race for insurance. Never sure when he may appear again.
