Castaway Cay is also listed for in-person running only for something you can register for. $96.94
But is it NOT listed under "events" or in the virtual race section at all.

Apparently it's not just a Dopey anniversary year, it's ALSO the 30th anniversary for the marathon.

POT guidelines: "If you believe you will finish the Half Marathon in 2 hours and 15 minutes (2:15) or less or the Marathon in 4 hours and 30 minutes (4:30) or less, proof of time is required for start group placement."

results must be from 1/1/19 - 9/27/22 AND SUBMITTED BY 9/27/22 (unless you register after 9/27)

  • Proof of Time must be submitted at the time of registration. You may change your proof of time until the deadline of September 27, 2022. No changes can be made after September 27, 2022. If data provided is incomplete or cannot be verified, you will be placed in the last start group.
  • No start group changes will be made after September 27, 2022.
  • If you register after the proof of time deadline you are still able to submit a valid proof of time at the point of registration. After you conclude the registration process, you will not be able to add or edit proof of time.
Okay I have been *studiously* avoiding future race threads so I don't get roped in. I swore I was going to take a few years off of runDisney. But the dates for this work great for my 2023 work schedule and these themes are killing me!!!!! Dang it!!!!

Anyone else thinking of costume ideas now??

I was wanting to do a Turning Red costume but was waiting for themes. I think I am going to do a red panda costume with 90's workout gear on, so like have the headband and arm bands, etc on... with red panda ear, tail and fake fur pants and shirt (printed on). Thoughts?
How about the Red Panda costume that they actually wear in the movie? With all the boxes?

Darn it. In my best impersonation of Silvio Dante impersonating Al Pacino, “just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.”

ETA: I’m a 90’s Disney Afternoon kid and those themes hit all the right notes for me. I was planning on doing less for the 2023 Marathon Weekend but with the themes and the anniversaries I think I’m officially pushing forward my Dopey redemption tour.

Out of curiosity, (this is probably an @DopeyBadger question) what is the breakdown in generational demographics for the Disney races? I know the theme is a nod to the 1992 origin, but just wondering if most participants are Baby Boomers/Gen X/Millenials/Gen Z, ect.
That's one of the great things about runDisney events. From my nonscientific observations, the age demographics span from the youngest participant permitted to run to people in their 70s.

Can I say I'm so impressed by everyone that runs with a costume? My idea of a costume is themed fabric sewn into normal workout clothes. I'm thinking of an outfit to match Mickey's for the full, and one to match Goofy for the half. But I also wonder if that would be too out there, and no one would see the connection? I don't know yet.
I was actually thinking the same thing. I always want to be in costume, but then the effort to actually make/find a costume that I want to run in is so overwhelming that I don't. However, I could easily find a sweatband and attach some mouse ears :)

I second what @kps7795 said. For Princess and Springtime Surprise, I saw people of all ages.

Moreover, I pointed out to my daughter (who, at 15 y/o, was presumably one of the youngest runners) that there were runners of all shapes and sizes participating. The inclusivity of all manner of runners is one of the things that I enjoy the most. Whether you're young or old, fit or fat....everyone is a welcome runner!

Yes! I definitely did not feel out of place with my slowish jiggly self

I'm bored at work, so I did a breakdown for the 2022 Marathon.

I just went through the results for the marathon for 2022 and below is what I found. The 30-44 contingent makes up about half of the field. I'm guessing this might be different for the other distances but I should probably get back to work...

On a plane right now so I can’t pull up Excel but someone should be able to calculate demo breakdowns from here: https://www.trackshackresults.com/disneysports/results/wdw/wdw22/index2.php
Thanks for this! For some reason I could only find the searchable results which makes you page through each age group. Worked for what I wanted but took a little more time.

It's fascinating that the largest gender flips with the 50-59 demographic. I wonder why that is?

I love the themes! Not sure I want to commit to in person at this point, but I'm going to sign up for the virtual 10k just for that Chip and Dale shirt. LOVE!!!
