Mama Melrose: Why do people like it?

Both restaurants will be replaced with other restaurants. I know that Mama Melrose will be Harry Housen's so that's a pretty big change in cuisine though. I have no idea what Pizzerizzo will become but hopefully its still something kid friendly.

I’m more concerned for the few years there will be no replacement.

Go to the outdoor market with all the QS food. Shade created by overhead awnings. I suspect the food comes from the same place that supplies MM.
Or ABC Commisary offers seats and a/c.

I’ll stick to the outdoor lounge at Brown Derby as it’s no ADR and same menu.

It's simple comfort food that appeals to a wide variety of palates. I ate there twice and thought it was disgusting both times, so it won't be missed IMO. It's also a reservation that is very easy to get and walk ups are always available.

We have eaten there a number of times. Was the food great....no but it was a good meal at a good price. I can't believe it was "disgusting" that seems a bit harsh to me.

You couldn't pay me to go back. Food really was disgusting. I'm looking forward to it being rethemed to Harryhausen's.

We have always liked Mama's and will be sad that it's no longer an option. None of us are big Japanese food fans, so this is a loss for us. We will probably try it at some point, though, and I am hoping it doesn't take years to build. Food options are poor at HS, at best, and this'll just put more stress on the system. (and I absolutely don't understand the love for SciFi... IMO it's always been bad)

Mama's is ok nothing to write home about. But if you really want really good Italian food. You need to step outside of HS and head to Swan and Dolphin for Il Mulino.

We personally found it to be just awful. Having said that, we liked Pizze Rizzo (for fast food). It was the nostalgia. Loved it when it is was Pizza Planet. I would suspect that is why some like Mama Melrose. For the rest, they have never had real, good Italian food.

I am Italian, so that does have an impact on my thoughts about MM.

There are so few decent food choices in DS as is. Not that these were great. But still......

This is a growing concern for me about DHS in general as well. I feel like overall, attraction wait times are already consistently the worst overall, and as you take out Muppets Courtyard and eventually close Rockin' Roller Coaster for retheming, I don't think the Villains or Little Mermaid shows will be enough to pick up that slack for crowd disbursement, so I think we'll see wait times continue to increase overall as well as dining availability at the other table services become more limited too.
