Luggage Addicts meet here

It's worse when you are on a scooter and have to dismount to get it.

Or worse than that is when it hits someone as it falls.
I used to worry about an unstable suitcase falling on an unsuspecting stranger. Traveling is nerve wracking enough without that fear.

Love the topic. Love looking at luggage. Love buying luggage. Love using luggage. I get teased all the time by DH that any store we go in, I gravitate toward the luggage. He always knows where to find me.

I’m neurotic about it being lightweight. As in as light as possible. I very much like IT luggage for this reason.

My daughter only travels with Tumi. Very nice for sure but I almost fainted when she told me the price. Course she still has the same tote for
many years and it looks brand new while I’m like on my 4th cheap one. I still can’t justify spending that kind of money for a bag that get jammed under a seat or tossed in an overhead slamming the door on it.

Buttttt it sure looks nice every time I travel often with her.

This is a place for fellow luggage addicts to share their favorite suitcases, carry on, personal items, and traveled accessories.

I am obsessed with finding the perfect bag yet am, at the same time, too cheap to spend a ton of money. I am also, apparently, easily influenced and should really stay away from social media. My current favorite influence has been getting me in trouble. I follow Rilee Smith on her blog and on her Tik Tok (Rilee). Do you have a favorite travel/packing expert?

Although I titled the thread "luggage" and included suitcases in my list, I personally am more interested in cabin bags as I am almost exclusively carry on only now days. I have my favorite bags but am constantly on the hunt for something better.

Does anyone have a favorite bag they would like to suggest What makes it your favorite?
I like Tumi. It’s difficult for me to walk past the Tumi boutique in the mall or airports. I have an old duffle from J Crew that has been all over that I have become attached too. I like Burberry products but they don’t make a piece that makes enough sense for me to purchase.

For my personal item, I switch between 2 bags depending on the trip.

Anything more than a few days in WDW and this cooler is hanging on the back of my scooter and serves as my suitcase (and DD and I share a 22 inch spinner). My personal item is then something similar to this View attachment 930159

If it is a shorter trip, a day trip or a trip anywhere where I don't need a cooler, the Lovevook backpack will be handing on the back of the scooter as my personal item

Lovevook Laptop backpack
Your carryon bag is both stylish and practical. Would you mind sharing the brand and style? Thanks.

Not only am I an unrepentant luggage junkie, but I've birthed one, too. DD17 is just as bad as I am, only we have totally opposite taste in luggage, so the proliferation is even worse than it used to be. DH & I prefer our luggage softside, while DD insists on hardside clamshells. (Her overpacking habits have broken 3 of them in the past 2 years, but now she has an IT brand that seems to be tough enough to take what she can throw at it.)

I have one ultra-lite Samsonite 36"pullman that I refuse to give up, even though it's now too large to fly. We keep blankets in it now. Love that thing. Our entire upstairs hall closet is full of nested luggage, though I'm trying to get the address of a local foster care group that will take used bags for kids -- I really don't want to send useable bags to a landfill if I can avoid it. (Our old ones are clean and have plenty of life left in them, but like most luggage junkies, I always want the next new thing, so I have several that need a new home.) I actually prefer 2-wheeled rollers, but they are getting very hard to find now. We have one pullman with a double-extension handle and wheels on 4 corners that can be rolled on 2 wheels or set flat and pulled like a wagon with other bags bungied on top. The extra handle makes it a bit heavy, and it's 20 yrs old now and looking pretty ragged from the thousands of miles on it, but man, that thing was a lifesaver when I went on trips alone with the kids when they were little. It's still very handy, and I wish I could replace it with a new one.

I don't use packing cubes the way they are meant to be used; I just use them to pack my undies, because I cannot stand the thought of random TSA guys putting their paws all over them. I'm not thin, so 2 mediums are needed for that. I do like to use the large plastic compression bags to minimize the load, though; especially in winter when we are carrying more bulky things. If it's a long trip we usually pack one 29" pullman for the two of us, and then each take a small carryon. I always have to take my laptop when we travel, so I have a small rolling bag that will hold all the chargers and electronics for both of us; those darn things are heavy, so I got a nice Olympia 16" with 2 wheeels to take that load off. For work trips on my own I can usually get 2 days worth of clothes into it, too. We go on a lot of 2-day trips in winter to watch DD compete, and we'll each pull a rollaboard for those, because standing around watching winter sports requires lots of layers.

DH is compulsive about unpacking at our destinations; he has the bags unpacked into dresser drawers 5 minutes after we walk into the room. I mostly prefer to leave anything that doesn't need to be hung up in the closet in my suitcase, but that doesn't fly with DH along. All luggage must be emptied and stashed before he can relax.

New thing I've found that I LOVE: rubber wheel covers. They make it so much quieter to roll 4-wheel bags, and the colors also make bags easy to identify on a baggage carousel. Take my advice and glue them on, though; I've had one slip off and get lost on city streets, and nothing is more annoying than uneven wheels. (Test them first to make sure that the wheels roll freely, then take them back off and put a small smear of glue on the inside before putting them back on for good.

My favorite personal item bag is not necessarily stylish but everything I need fits perfectly. I will have to look at the brand but I bought it eons ago from ebags, a now defunct luggage website.

The lovevook backpack is cute and is more spacious but I am still getting used to it.

* I would have responded yesterday but my PC decided it hates me

I like the wheel cover suggestion Headed to amazon now to look :-)
I am your DH and you are mine. I need to unpack and put everything in drawers and DH will live out of his open suitcase all week.

He thinks hotel drawers are disgusting and, according to most reavel experts, he is right. But I just cant live out of the suitcase.

Travel Apps and hacks:

My first hack is to put my boarding pass in my google wallet. I was at an airport where I could not get a signal to save my life as I tried to pull it up to get through TSA.

Pack Point: I downloaded Pack Point a while ago but have not actually used it yet. I think it will be very handy for non Disney trips but my Disney packing list is already in my head so I have not used it yet.

Flight aware of Flight tracker: I have these two apps and find they are useful if you want to know where your plane is when your flight is delayed.

Gas Buddy: I downloaded Gas buddy for a driving trip but never ended up using it. The one time I tried, the gas prices were not accurate. I probably should give it another shot as my biggest frustration is finding gas close to the airport before returning the rental car.

I still make it a point to print my boarding pass; I've had my phone battery decide to die on me at the most inconvenient times, so I always prefer to have a printed copy as backup.
That's me on my way out of town but don't have a way to print it on the way home. I was rushing back from a day at Disney one time and I could not pull it up on my phone and the kiosks at MCO gave me a "see agent" message so I had to get in line with all the checking bags people. I did make my flight but it added some extra drama.

DH has been using Gas Buddy for years. Really helpful when gas supplies are limited after a hurricane. First hand experience.
