My family loves steak. I was looking at both Le Cellier and Chef's de France (heard their tenderloin was very good). We are 2 adults and 2 teenage boys and will be paying OOP. I wouldn't mind spending the money on Le Cellier, but it looks like reviews have been inconsistent.

I definitely think my boys would like the atmosphere at Le Cellier better, but I don't want to spend $200+ on a meal if there's a good chance that it won't be good. Can anyone give me their thoughts on these 2 restaurants?

I find Le Cellier hit or miss, but I have had good meals at Chef's de France. If you want a really good steak I would go to Yachtsman or Shula's.

I couldn't agree more. If you want good steak, leave the parks. We've only done Yachtsman and it was the best steak we'd ever had. I've read equally good things about Shula's.

For me the decision between Le Cellier and Chef's de France is an easy one. I would keep on walking past the Canadian Pavilion and head over to France. The food IMHO is way better at Chef's de France than Le Cellier. I also think the atmosphere is better than at LC as well. I do not personally think that LC even comes close to offering a signature dining experience both in food and in atmosphere and is one of my lowest ranked that I have experienced. For that matter I can name several restaurants in Epcot that I like better than LC; some of them are Chef's de France, Monsieur Paul, Via Napoli, Teppen Edo, Tokyo Dining, San Angel Inn and even Coral Reef. Personally if it's a steak you want I would head over to Yachtsman Steakhouse which IMHO, blows LC away in atmosphere, service and in food. If your willing to pay a little more then perhaps head over to Shula's, their steak is outstanding. Both Shula's and Yachtsman are minutes away, especially Yachtsman Steakhouse.

First, I have to say that while neither are perfect, I don't think you'll be utterly disappointed by either.

I like both restaurants and they are hands down better than most, but I do prefer Chefs de France. The atmosphere at Le Cellier is nice but dark. It feels like nighttime when we're eating lunch. Chefs de France is bright and airy. We love French food and they do it rather well there. The bread is wonderful and the escargot and pate were outstanding and yes their beef dish was excellent as well. However, if I were going to spend the money on a more expensive meal I would go upstairs to Monsiur Paul and they have an excellent steak/filet dish there which I can't recall but that meal is simply stupendous for the same price as LeCellier. LeCellier is a must do at some point but the last two times I was there and even when eating from there during F&W I find their food to be oversalted. Also, my husband who LOVES steak and we have eaten at Peter Lugers, Ben Benson's, Sparks, you name it, would also pick Chefs de France over LeCellier but that said, I wouldn't hesitate to go back there again because while it may not be the best, when you factor in the location and quality of food it is still better than many other restaurants in Epcot.

I have been to le cellier, chefs and yachtsman many times. Le cellier went through an iffy time a few years ago but our recent meals have been fantastic. I would rank them le cellier then yachtsman then chefs. I think yachtsman is a tad stuffy and shouldn't be and chefs doesn't specialize in steak. Le cellier is a fantastic meal in a more casual setting. The cheddar soup and pretzel bread us awesome. I would substitute mashed potato for the risotto with the filet and finish with a Creme brûlée

LeCellier used to be one of our must-do's, but we've been pretty underwhelmed our last couple of times. On the other hand, we've always had a great meal at Chefs de France. My two favorites are the beef tenderloin and the braised short ribs.

Love both, but the tenderloin at Chefs de France may come with a sauce your kids may not like. I have never been disappointed by Le Cellier. They changed their menu and took away one of my favorites, but the steaks I have had have always been excellent. Chefs would be less expensive but you cannot go wrong with either.

Between the two, I would pick Le Cellier. I've eaten there multiple times and have never been disappointed. We've tried Chefs twice and have been disappointed both times. I find the food overly salted (my DH could barely even eat the bisque on our Dec. trip - it was all salt) and pretty bland. If you want better steak, I would head to one of the resort restaurants - Shula's, Yachtsman, Artist Point, etc.

The Le Cellier Filet is on my husband and brother-in-laws must-do for every trip. The only time we've been disappointed by it was when they undercooked my sisters. We all order medium-rare and she orders medium-well, and they brought out all medium-rare. I bet the waitress just misheard her request. My sister is the non-confrontational type, so didn't say anything until dessert after we all advised her that we would all have sent it back. The server tried hard to make it right and took her dessert and all of our drinks (there was a glass of wine, a cocktail and tea on it) off the bill.

The tenderloin at Chefs De France was wonderful!!!! We tried Le Cellier once and dont plan to go back. It was ok but not worth what we paid...

I really love both places but would say LC because of the pretzel bread, mushroom filet, and maple creme brûlée. Is there a way you could squeeze them both in maybe one for lunch and the other for dinner?

We like both restaurants and try to visit both on every trip. The boneless ribeye at Le Cellier is my go to entree. It has been perfectly prepared and delicious every time. I've also had the beef tenderloin at Le Chefs and it was good, but I much prefer the short ribs on their menu.

Thanks for everyone's input! I think we'll go with Le Cellier. I know my boys will prefer the atmosphere, plus I want to give those Poutines a try!

If you are going to Le Cellier I recommend the "Le Cellier" Filet Mignon. Don't worry if they don't bring you a knife, you won't need one to cut it. It just melts in your mouth.

We have been to both and love Le Cellier--never miss it. Honestly we had a terrible experience at Chefs on our honeymoon and I really don't think I could convince him to try it again.
