Late resort arrival? (potentially after midnight)

If we arrive at Boardwalk Inn after midnight, but do check-in online days before, there won't be any issues right? We don't need to notify them?

It's possible we could get our room assignment earlier in the day by text and we can go straight to room?

Thanks!

You usually can unless you need to verify the right MB+ or something (I have always had to ugh haha), but I would also just make sure they have it noted your arrival time so some overzealous person doesn't see that you haven't opened the door yet and marks you as a no show....

How do I do that? just call?

others might have a better way, but calling the CMs SHOULD have a way to note that (especially since the online checkin has "arrival times" but only would do the 24 hour clock)

does anyone know if that drop down has an "after midnight" option?

Yes there is.

Weird question - would that affect any room requests I make? Or are the rooms assigned before that day?

well, in general, hotels start assigning rooms a week to three-ish days in advance, and if they have any particular requests, they do take that into consideration (the run of the mill "low floor" "near elevator" etc), but giving them the MOST possible time to MEET your requests by arriving after midnight might work in your favor.....if you have no requests, they are more apt to give you whatever is leftover of the "so and so amount of night rooms".....(though you might get the "least desirable" room of that type of request if someone needed to switch your rooms)

Disney does things a bit differently, though, others can chime in....

Putting an early time doesn't necessarily help you with room requests though, as you have a "get me a room earlier, ignoring my requests" button too....

Oh boy! 😂

I'll just do my request, put late arrival and hope for the best! (we may be there before midnight, but i'll select after just in case).

You will have no issue. We arrived around 5:30am loooooong flight delay.
we had online check in walked to our room and opened the door.
The front desk is open 24 hours if there is an issue - room assignment etc.
if you magic bands do not work use your phone to open the door there is a room unlick so long as your phone has NFC (tap and pay with your phone). Iphones all do a few lower Androids do not.

I would think checking in after midnight could possibly result in getting the least desirable room in your category as the front desk will make changes, if available, when earlier checkins in the same room category make room complaints during the day. This, of course, would depend on how crowded it is and how many vacant rooms there are. I haven’t had this happen at the Swan, but have had it happen at other Marriott properties.

I would sum up most of the comments about that late arrival affecting room requests as....

it depends on the day, how full the resort is, and the ins and outs that day.....

How can they change my room if it's already assigned to me though? They won't know if I'm there or not if I check in online?

I mean, as long as we have a room, that's what is important an it sounds like arriving after midnight won't be an issue.

If you get a room an actual room assigned earlier in the day, then I agree with you.

your "assigned" room might not even be checked out by 11....and then the housekeeper might not get to your room until later....

so if you said you would be in late, then your room wouldn't need to be ready until late.....but if your room checked out at 8am and the housekeeper got it done by 11am, an early check in person who was demanding a room (or someone else that had something wrong with their current room) needed it.....and you weren't "checked in" yet, then they could absolutely take your room...

I don't know when the rooms for online checkin get "checked in" after their are inspected and ready to go, but I doubt they tie up a lot of late arrival rooms with early checkin when they have guests walking in the door before check in time who would feel the disney magic if they got in early.....

It is a puzzle of who is ready for a room, which rooms are ready, and if you can switch any of the "X" number of rooms with the same characteristics with others who are wanting that type too.....

Especially on a day with a lot of requests, if "X" corner room arrived at noon and hasn't been able to be checked in before 6pm when your room just became ready even though you're checking in at midnight, you can bet the FD person is gonna switch that room for the guests in front of them at 6pm.....

Okay, this is all confusing.

A room is a room and we'll take it! Thanks guys!
Sorry, it's a lot of hotel speak, a lot of moving parts in the operation of a hotel and managing inventory.....

There's a difference between "assigned" and "checked in", and that affects how the CMs can manage the inventory as well as the guests they are working with....

This is what I was going to say. The one (and last) time I stayed at POFQ, I'd made a request with highest priority being a building close to the main building (I had standard view booked) since I was arriving after midnight (on Magical Express back when it existed) and being solo I didn't want to have to walk super far in the dark. Well, I got there and went by the desk and discovered that I was in literally the furthest room (room 7348 - top floor far back corner facing the river) I could have been. The resort was full, so there was nothing to be done. The CM at the desk didn't say it was a reassignment, but he did say "Well, you got upgraded to a River View!" when I asked if there wasn't a standard view available - I strongly suspect someone who arrived earlier had gotten their assignment and offered to take a downgrade to be closer to the main building.

I've never gotten a room number text before I was on Disney property - at least not since DME went away and Mears took over as itself.
