I will be in Disneyland with 6yo, 8yo that want to try simpler roller coaster and fast rides. I am a roller coaster wimp and worried about it :( things I tried in the past:
  • Pirates of Caribbean (in Florida) - it was actually ok, the first drop was borderline for me but I can manage it
  • Grizzly river run - the last drop was a bit scary for me. I'm ok with something "almost like it" but not more scary than that for sure.
  • The simplest kids roller coaster in a local park - did not enjoy at all that feeling in the stomach
  • Any ride with fast movement in screens gives me a nausea so not too much on that front
What are some rides in both Diseny and DCA you recommend me to take the kids so they get some of that excitement and I'm around the comfort zone? Thanks!

Do you get motion sickness or do you just not enjoy the drop feeling? I get both and I am also a coaster wimp. Oddly enough, I can handle BTMRR just fine, but I cannot handle kiddie coasters at all. I think it’s because the drops on BTMRR tend to be more shallow instead of steep, and they are disguised by the sets built around the track.

I don’t have issues with flat rides at higher speeds, like the Radiator Springs Racers at DCA, although I do take a Bonine daily for motion sickness at any theme park.

I mostly try to figure our my fear of drops. I also get motion sickness but this is somehow controlled. Just watched the BTMRR and it looks... fast. How are the drops compared to Pirattes? I think because pirates was in the dark and I didn't see the drop I could manage it.

Maybe give Chip & Dale's Gadget Coaster, in ToonTown a try. It is similar to Goofy's Barnstormer at Florida.

I also agree that Big Thunder is a good second level coaster, if you are okay after Chip & Dale's.

just watched both Big Thunder and Chip & Dale. Not sure why but something tells me I can manager Big Thunder but not Chip & Date - it looks with quicker change of direction and more steep falls, but maybe because in BT I was focused on scenery. What makes BT a second level coaster? I'm ok with fast, dark, bumpy and a drop no more than pirates. I'm worried about fast direction change and large drops (maybe optics but C&D seemed a larger drops).

Mostly because of the height requirements, younger kids can ride Chip & Dale's before they are tall enough to ride Big Thunder.

If you are okay with bumpy and dark along with twists and turns, check out the Matterhorn. It has dark sections but is quite bumpy. I don't think Space Mountain has any big drops. It is mostly twists and turns in the dark. Search YouTube and see if you can find a lights on ride throughs to see if you think this is something you can handle.

If you don't like drops avoid Rise of the Resistance and there is a fast drop, straight down, similar to Guardians/Tower of Terror.

Runaway Railroad is a fast moving ride but is flat. There is one part where you stop and watch a few seconds of a film to feel as if you are going over a waterfall. You can just close your eyes for that portion.

Be aware DL POTC has 2 drops.

I go opposite to a PP and recommend ROTR. There is a like 2 second zero gravity type drop right at the end. I cannot do DL GOTG due to screens and drops but ROTR is fine, by the time your brain comprehends “I’m dropping” its done.

I've only been on ROTR once, but it seemed to me the drop was only about half a second, maybe 8-10 feet. Nothing like Guardians/Tower of Terror. It took me years to get up the nerve to go on ToT and I'm never going back. I'd go back on ROTR in a heartbeat.
