I just saw a thread for Great Wolf Lodge, but the search feature isn't working. I went through 15 pages, but still couldn't find it. :confused3

We're talking about taking a mini trip to one of these places in Sandusky with a side trip to Put-in-Bay.

Any experiences, good or bad with Kalahari or Great Wolf Lodge?

My mom went to the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara a few weeks ago. She was VERY impressed with it. VERY. It is very much up to Disney resort quality and customer service.

My mom took my boys to Kalahari last summer and they absolutely LOVED it. A friend of mine has been to both and she prefers Kalahari, by far.

Future SIL has taken her boys to both and they too prefer Kalahari. Have a great trip!!!

I love Great Wolf Lodge, but the water park is a little more for younger kids, while Kalahari is more for the older kids. My six year olds love the slides, and they are allowed to ride on everything at Great Wolf, but my teens get bored very quickly.

We're going to Kalahari tonight!! special for $99!!!

we've been to Kalahari, Great Wolf and Castaway Bay all many times... Kalahari is our favorite by far!! It is very nice. Has everything right there, restaurants that are better than the others, stand w/candy carmel apples, fudge all kinds of good stuff. everything about the waterpark is much better and bigger!!!! the rooms are really nice... has putt putt golf plus arcade..

Great wolf is still very nice and if they had a great deal...we'll still go but Kalahari wins big time!!!

Thanks for the input! Sorry I'm late in responding, but I lost my thread subscriptions when I changed my username.

Royalbear, what age range are you talking about when you say younger vs older kids? My DD is a big 10-year old -- big in body size, but still immature mentally.

I really love the theming at Kalahari! I wonder if it'll remind me of Animal Kindgom Lodge at all? :confused3 However, I did see a good special at Great Wolf Lodge that includes tickets on the Jet Express to go to Put-in-Bay, which would save us $85 right there.

I have no idea which we'll choose.

We went to Great Wolf a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time! We all (kids & adults) thought that the slides were really fun. I'll admit that Kalahari does look really cool (and we will try it out on a good special some day) but I think that Great Wolf Lodge is lots of fun as well.

I saw that special as well and that is a pretty good deal :thumbsup2

My DD (now 12) would go to any "big" waterpark. We've been to GWL 2 times, she has been to the Kalahari about 3 or 4 times.

Her favorite park is the Kalahari. But - again - she loves them all. We've never stayed at the Kalahari, so I've never seen it. The Kalahari, just seems to be more expensive when we are going.

Our most recent stay in WI Dells was The Wilderness. Again, cost was THE factor.

We started doing WI Dells Parks, because they are about 110 miles from our house. DD's favorite cousin lives 90 miles from the Dells. So my SIL brings my niece down. The Dells would be boring for DD if she didn't have a "gal pal" to run around with.

My son liked GWL when he was 10, so it should be fun for your ds. I'd say give it a try if it is cheaper--it has an arcade which will keep anyone busy.

We were just in Sandusky two weeks ago, and are going back in August.

Just from outward appearances, Kalahari looked more my speed.

I've got some brochures on both that I would be happy to mail you if you pm me, or email me at mmoore1851@gmail.com

I'm not sure if it would remind you of AKL... b/c I've never been there but actually it is funny b/c the first time we went there my first thought is "this is the way disney would do it" :)!!!! It is incredible. Like I said, we've been to all 3 in Sandusky. GWL and Kalahari the most...but GWL the most of all since it was the first one open... but Kalahari is so much better than GWL it isn't even comparable... they've added so much outside since last year... there is something for everyone. Your daughter would enjoy either...but Kalahari has FAR MORE to do!!!
