Cause the DIS knows all. My friend's kids are tall and skinny so the waist is either too big and the legs are long enough, or the legs are too short but they fit in the waist. Any suggestions?

What age?

My son is 5'7 and thin. The best sized jeans I could find him were at American Eagle. They have 28" waist with 32" inseam. Most other places start at 30" waist before they hit 32" inseam.

If younger kids, a lot of places have adjustable waist jeans. Sears & JCPenney do, I know for sure.

oh yes-wrangler has an entire line of jeans/pants for this issue. they have an elastic band inside the waistband that has a series of button holes on it. there is a button (on the inside) on the right and left front of the pants. you figure out how tight you need the waist band and button the inside accordingly, letting it out if the kids grow (i have yet to ever have to do this more than one notch before ds has outgrown his in height).

i've found them anyplace that carries wranglers (with walmart having the largest selection in the non jeans category-i was thrilled to be able to find a nice pair of black dressier type pants for ds this year in this style).

Oh sorry...Shoulda mentioned that. DS is 2t and daughter is 5.

Old Navy jeans have the adjustable waist, too, which I need for DS. He has always been our tall, skinny one.

For now, I would say old navy and Gap with the adjustable waist. Also, online mini boden has awesome clothes and they have great fits as well.

Probably once your daughter is 6 or 7, then I'd say Justice. They don't have adjustable waist, but they have slim fit which works well.

We always had luck with Old Navy jeans. My niece was always tall and skinny. My sister in law used to have to buy for height and would just sew in the sides (pinch like and inch and baste it). They later found that she had off the charts, over-active thyroid and ended up having to "kill" it. She is now a healthy weight and can wear clothes off the rack, no tailoring needed.

childrens place has slim jeans that work well. my daughter is 7 and currently in an 8 jeans and they are perfect length.. the next jump is a 10 and the 8's are as tight has they get with the elastic tabs!

Target also has adjustable waists and you can get them for under $10!

My tall skinny kid wore jeans from The Children's Place and Gymboree. Both had adjustable waists. I think most kids jeans have those now - I have seen them in kids Old Navy and Gap jeans too.

We have good luck with Old Navy for DS9 and DS3 because they have adjustable waists and they have slim sizes (no slims for toddlers though).

DD11 prefers Justice jeans. They don't have adjustable waists, but they do have slims.

This is what I have to do for DS3 when I buy him sweatpants, pj's, or anything else without an adjustable waist.

Arizona jeans from JC Penney run long and skinny. Those were the best for my DS15 when he was younger. Now we need a 28x34 and NO ONE makes those.

If you ever find anything let me know!! I have the worst possible time trying to find pants for DS13 -- he is SUPER skinny (I think it was 85 pounds at his last appointment) 90% of the size 16 pants do NOT have adjustable waists anymore and once you go into the WxL jeans they most certainly don't. I have no idea what I'm going to do after size 16 gets too short. He has a belt but doesn't care to wear it too much & even if he did, there is still a lot of fabric to attempt to get bunched up. He may have no choice pretty soon.

I buy Size 16 slim with adjustable waists and pull them in whenever I can find them but they are HARD to find. I have found 16 Regulars & 16 Huskies but 16 Slims are few & far between as I will look on the shelf & see they don't even have a spot for them -- add in the need for adjustable waist and ugh.

When I DO find them, I try to snag as many pairs as I can but I don't want to go overboard because I know he will grow out of them lengthwise. I think Meijers is where I found some and Target. I know Wal-Mart around here anyway doesn't hardly carry any slims.

DS15 just had to get used to wearing belts. We have to get him 30x34's and he just has to pull all that extra fabric in. He is 5'9" and is all the way up to 107lbs :lmao:. It was a big day at our house when he hit 100 lbs. :lmao::lmao:

DD has the long legs and skinny waist. The two brands that I have found that work best for her are Tommy Hilfiger and Arizona. If I am around an outlet then I will pick up the Tommy jeans, otherwise I will get the Arizona's from Penny's.

Levi's makes them, I can get them at the Levi store but you can find them online here

For the little kids Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, LandsEnd all make SLIMs with adjustable waists(the best thing invented for kids clothing!)

I have his long lost little brother! My DS 12 just hit 60 lbs! I was like woooo and he was looking at me like I was nuts(a usual occurrence at his age)

For the toddler Sears always had nice slim pants in the little boy sizes, I was very sad when he outgrew those sizes and the boy ones weren't as slim

walmart has those.. I know because I accidently bought them for hubby!

abercrombie jeans always ran long and skinny. That's what I always bought my D when she was younger. When the kids were younger I think they wore GAP jeans.

Now my S wears a belt, but American Eagle has smaller waist sizes with longer inseams. That is where I've bought most of his jeans lately.

MY DS21 is the same way !! I buy Old Navy 32x34, the 30 is too small but 32 too big LOL. Yes i still buy his jeans, lol but only because when we go out to eat I want him to have a pair without holes to put on ; ) . If I didnt buy him any, he would keep wearing what he has till the waist falls off.
