Highly variable. Could be 35 degrees, could be 70.

Peak golf seasons for coastal South Carolina are March-May and Sept-Nov.

You will likely be able to play every day in January. But it might be very cold, or you might be in shorts...

for those who have golfed at HHI in Jan what's the weather like?

DH has golfed there in February, and one thing you should be aware of is the possibility of a frost delay. If the overnight is cold and there's frost, then you have an early tee-time, there might be a frost delay so they can let the frost get off the greens in the sun. That happened to us a few years ago, which was OK, because we used that time to run over to Walmart to buy some hats and gloves.
