Is this a change to paying dues with gift cards?

If you pay monthly, what is the first date that payment is taken? Is it February 1st? I have never done it so just wondering if it is 11 or 12 instalments?

First date is January. You choose the 1st or the 15th of the month except for January. January is always the 15th

I just enrolled one of my memberships into auto pay and afterwards I could still prepay dues for 2025.

Is that because we are still pre January 15th or is it an error?

Let’s say I enroll in autopay by Jan 15, then on May 1st, I cancel autopay to pay off the entire balance with GC. Based on the following sentence, does that mean the moment autopay is cancelled, I get hit with late fees and interest on the remaining balance because it’s past Feb 14?

What I've seen in mine is that you can still prepay the entire contract balance. You just can't make partial payments anymore for any contract enrolled in autopay.

I can confirm that partial payments are not possible but I can pay in full using a GC.

I thought that GC payments was not possible including partial payment when enrolled in autopay.

That is after they throw the switch, Jan or Feb 15th I forget which at this point

I don't think they're going to change that. They've already taken away the ability to make partial payments while enrolled in autopay. They left the ability to pay in full because if you're paid in full, autopay is moot anyway.

It is changing when we start in 2025.

I never have to cancel my monthly payment before paying the balance in full with a CC.

I would assume it wlll be the same with a gift card… but I don’t really use the gift cards so not sure how it would work.

I do think if someone cancels monthly payment option it’s a possibility that would happen

And that I think is the problem as it seems like you would have to cancel to pay the balance in full with a gift card this possibly opening up the interest charges.

Of course we won’t know until someone reports and that person will not be me lol

It will not be me either! I always pay in full with my CD when I start and won’t be chances anything else!!

My problem with this is the timing. We are told a month ahead of the change during Christmas season when people are spending more money on their families and loved ones. Just no consideration of budgeting for people.

Since things can still be paid with gift cards in January, before the monthly payment plan has to be selected, those who have bought them already can still apply them for the dues.

The difference really doesn’t kick in until February wheb a gift card can no longer be used to make a partial payment…

How does this affect budgeting? The auto pay for 12 months at 0% on a fix amount is still in play here. You can still use any gift cards you previously had you just can’t do it on a monthly basis anymore.

Or is sounds like a credit card prepayment either after Feb?

That's a 10% loss (if not more) for those of us who do not have the full amount ready on Jan 15 and had planned to purchase gift cards as a monthly prepayment.

No, you will still be able to prepay the balance of a contract via CC at anytime during the year.

You simply can no longer make partial payments after January/February.

You never could with a CC…they are simply expanding that to gift cards and rewards dollars.

I do see what your saying about losing out on the savings from getting discounted gift cards…but, you could still get them, and hold them until you have enough to pay a contract in full.

That might be the case but in terms of budgeting I would think you would factor the amount owed not the smaller amount after factoring in savings from gift cards?
