Help me make a list of foods we can bring on our trip for quick breakfasts that travel well! We don't want to waste time shopping once we get to Orlando (a 6 hour flight for us), so we are going to pack our souvenier bag (it's a duffle bag we expect to be empty by the time we come back and ready to fill with souveniers) with snacks and some breakfast foods. Here's my thoughts so far:
Instant oatmeal
Bagels/muffins
Oranges

Poptarts , if your kids like them. Tea bags (don't like the hotel ones), little boxes of cereal (or the ones that are already in a bowl). I've never tried them, but wondered about the milk & cereal bars?

Great ideas! The cereal&Milk bars are a little too sweet for me as breakfast, but wouldn't be a bad snack! :)

I should have mentioned, we're 4 adults. No kids (other than the ones in our hearts).

We actually bake muffins and use a food saver (vaccum sealer) to seal them then when we get to the resort we throw them in the fridge. The little boxes/bowls of cereal are great, but I just bring a box and a plastic bowl with me and I have to stop at the grocery store for a jug of lactaid milk. Granola bars in general are great snacks. I also buy the small packages "fun size" of m&m's as they don't melt easily.

You didn't mention whether you were bringing a cooler. I will assume not, since you are bringing your food in a duffle bag.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (or at least the stuff to make them)

juice boxes (yes, even for adults!)

Jerky (I hate it, but I know people that really like it, any time of day)

home-made trail mix (that way you can control the amount of sugar in it)

Shelf-stable pudding packs (again, not something I would care for, but in a pinch it would be a reasonable breakfast food!)

apples, bananas both do well without refrigeration

dried fruit such as apricots, bananas, etc. Very high in sugar, but at least there is some nutritional value!

prepackaged peanut butter crackers or cheese and crackers.

THat is all I can think of for now.............P

BTW, have you considered either mailing a box to the resort ahead of time with this stuff, or using a shopping service? Look around here... there are lots of threads on both topics...........P

Instant oatmeal and grits. If you have a coffee maker in the room you can use that to heat the water. I generally even at home just use hot tap water in the kids oatmeal since it doesnt get hot enough to burn them.

On the lines of granola/cereal bars - the original quaker cereal or nutrigrain bars.

Fruit. Bread.

Don't forget cream of wheat(my daughter loves), and oatmeal comes in bowls ready to eat also, applsauce , snack cookies, crackers, marshmellows, bagels and cream cheese in the to go packs, uhmm I will think some more and let you know.. also you can get some stuff shipped to the resort from mimus(I think I spelled that right) mimus.com. All miniature stuff, reasonably priced. any other suggestions as we are going in 1 month?

Thank you everyone! Keep 'em coming! :)

I never thought about mailing food ahead of time, but I guess I could! What a great idea. I have some "care packages" for my friends who are coming with us that I was going to mail ahead of time. I'm also sort of scared that Pop Century will lose it or something. But if ya'll have had good experience with it, then I'll give it a go!

We're not bringing a cooler. It's a 6 hour flight, so the less we have to carry, the better! :Pinkbounc I can't WAIT!
248 more days!

We usually bring a regular size box of cereal (Special K w/ Strawberries for us.. yummy) And we have stayed at both value and moderate resorts and both had larger containers of milk that you can purchase in the gift shop. We bring a colapsable cooler that we keep the milk in.

We're bringing poptarts, a couple cereal boxes, cereal bars, fruit snacks, oatmeal packets, etc. Don't forget some disposable spoons and bowls!! :)

Just got back from the grocery and had another idea - little debbie/hostess/etc snack cakes. My dad always ate them for breakfast.

Danishes are good - either Entemanns or those Otis Spunkmeyer Bear Claws or the like -

We brought those and pop-tarts - also cereal and milk - we brought plastic bowls and spoons for those, but if you get those packs of cereal in small boxes, I think they are designed that you can fold them open and eat right out of them.

have you thought about buying a collaspible cooler? Ours is about 10"x10" and folds up to 2" thick - holds maybe a 12pack?

I found some small, juice box sized, boxes of the parmalot milk (very long shelf life, no refrigeration needed) that we're taking along with the little boxes of cereal. What about those personal canned fruits?

Besides cereal, we usually take Nutrigrain bars, granola bars, bag of the little Hostess donuts (travels better than a box) and bagels.

We had a grocery delivery service come on our last trip. The website is www.wegoshop.com and they were wonderful!!!

They brought:

granola bars, cereals, apples, oranges, bananas, yogurt, milk, bowls/spoons, peanut butter, bread, and a small foam cooler.

We also traveled with 4 kids, so they brought us baby supplies as well.

Just wanted to mention another option!

I didn't think the Smuckers PBJ held up very well. I brought them for my son and the jelly kind of oozed out a bit making it sticky. I should have left them in the box I guess. Next time I bring the fixings to make our own.

We stayed at Pop Century last time we were at WDW and requested a refrigerater in the room. They say it is $10/day (?) to rent but we were not charged for it. There was no coffee maker in our room to heat water for oatmeal but you can get it at the caffeteria. If you visit Ft Wilderness for any reason (Hoop Dee Do Revue or the campfire movie thing) the store at the outpost has quite a bit to choose from. Also, if any of you are military there is a small store at Shades of Green where I believe everything is tax free.

We bring snack size cereals for the room (BWV DVC) in the am then trail mix, cereal bars, small fruit snacks, frozen juice boxes for the parks (keeps snacks cold for awhile).
I stay away from anything that has chocolate or would get squashed in the bag like donuts or muffins even fruit. They stay in the room.
