Looking for reviews/recommendations for IHG properties within walking distance to DLR. I have their credit card & get 1 free night per year, which I’d love to use towards a stay at DLR next summer.

My top choice based on the amenities is the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites Anaheim at 1240 South Walnut. It says it’s a 15-minute walk from Downtown Disney and “the park entrance at the only place the Monorail stops outside the park.” Is there actually a park entrance here? My kids will be 5 and 9 so I don’t want a very long walk.

The other best option looks like the Holiday Inn Express which is at 1411 South Manchester Ave. On the map it looks like you could potentially walk past the Courtyard Marriott Theme Park Entrance and then end up on Harbour Blvd to cross the street to DLR, but without knowing the area at all I’m not sure if it’s actually possible to walk that way from the Holiday Inn Express.

Any feedback about these two hotels, or other IHG properties in the area, is appreciated!

I've heard really good things about the Hotel Indigo on Katella (just east of Harbor). It is walking distance to the parks. There is a Starbucks and a Walgreens across the street. There is a CVS (24/7), a 7-11, A Mart (convenience store), and a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf near by. People on this board report good stays there.

Thanks for the feedback! I saw that one as well, but with a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old I was leaning towards one of the Holiday Inns that have a kids splash area at the pool, and either kids eat free or free breakfast. The Hotel Indigo looks nice though; it’s slightly more expensive if paying cash but it’s actually the same number of points as the Holiday Inns. I’ll keep it in mind.

I don't know if the Hoiday inn on Walnut is walking distance. I kind of suspect that the short cut through the parking lot has been cut off but I don't know. The other Holiday inn on Manchester is diffenately not a walk you want to make at night. That hotel feels isolated and I didn't like it very much but it was affordable. Just not a good walk imho. I've stayed at the Hotel Indigo many times and it's great. Its probably my favorite hotel in town, other than the Disneyland hotel. But I must admit, the pool is not very good but the location is within a easy 10 minute walk and it's a very nice hotel.

I have not been there yet so take what i say with that in mind,

But we were booked at the holiday inn on walnut thinking it was a close walk. More research, reading reviews on trip advisor, etc and I found that wasn't the case. From what others said it was more like an 8 minute Drive...

So we switched to the Howard Johnson hotel.

This.... I am an IHG member and have done a bunch of research on where I could use my points to stay near DL. I always cave to my wife and book us at the Grand Californian, but if I ever use my IHG points to stay I would choose the Hotel Indigo. Seems like the best location and the rooms are newer and larger and nicer than the other locations I have seen.

I was a million+ IHG Point member at one time and know them well.

I have not stayed at the Indigo since it got rebranded from a HIE...but I did stay there quit a few times and it felt like a hike to the parks. More times than not we would just drive to the M&F garage since we had parking on out APs. I quickly abandoned that location when I discovered the HI on S. Walnut.

I stay at the HI on S Walnut regularly. It is predictable mediocre. Nice, clean, just nothing special IMO. This property falls into the "I just need a bed and shower" category. The walk is not bad for able bodied adults. You can take the tram from the M&F garage but it is just as fast to walk. We tend to like starting at Starbucks or another quick bite in DTD so I like approaching from that side. It is nice and quiet since the masses are headed for the Harbor Blvd side of the property. Awesome view of the fireworks from the parking lot...but not may rooms are aligned to be able to see it. It does have a decent full service restaurant which is rare for the three star properties.

The HIE just past the Courtyard is by far the closets and nicest since it is brand new. That property hands down in my choice and one of my go to off site properties now second only to the new Courtyard. The walk was not even much of a second thought when we stay there. No restaurant but there is a lot of quick serve places right out the front door. That is my recommendation.

I forgot about the new HIE on Harbor. I second this for convenience to walking to the park, and the fact that it is new......
