I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

For the Hilton Aspire $200 resort credit, does it have to be charged to a room to qualify? That's what I'm seeing in the terms, but didn't know if this was the case in practice. We will be in Orlando next month and I would love to try Bull & Bear, but we're not staying at the Waldorf so would just be paying at the restaurant.

That is the way I have used it at Bull & Bear. We used FN certs to stay at the Waldorf and then the resort credits at Bull & Bear. I am pretty sure I have read where some folks have made it work without it being a room charge but I don't know the specifics.

May 2 to 4 Sam's will have $200 Disney gift cards for $180 (limit 4).

I've been stalking Princess' website trying to get a certain category stateroom for my NE/Canada cruise for my mom's birthday. Today there were two available so I grabbed one with an oversized balcony. Now I just need my URs to be refunded so I can transfer it to Chase. I also think I need to buy trip insurance within 14 days to cover my mom's preexisting conditions. I'm assuming CSR insurance isn't enough.
Princess's website is the worst!! I always have issues with my login bumping me out.

But we enjoy crusing Princess cruise line... They're pulling out of Galveston entirely next year so that's a bummer for us. Where are you guys going??

I would like DD to get a CSP and the Barclays AAdvantage Red card while both have their elevated offers. Currently she is 0/24 and these are the cards she has.

SW Priority 2/23
AMEX Gold 3/23
CIC 4/23
AMEX Business Platinum 2/24
CIP 8/24
AMEX BBP 9/24
AMEX Business Gold 10/24

If she applies for the CSP first how long should she wait to apply for the AA Red? Is there any downside to applying for both at the same time? I am assuming that she should apply for the CSP first and then apply for the AA Red if she does them both on the same day. Thanks for any thoughts.

I've been following the redemption for Japan biz flights but I'm confused on who is going to be the best. I'll prob do 1 way and need 2 there if I can convince my bff to fly here so we go together, I'd feel awkward if we were in dif classes on the same plane. I last did AA but even with fewer people flying from SEA I imagine that's not the best option. We have both JAL and ANA from here but I don't think I can book ANA direct for both of us unless they've changed their rules.

Figuring the abd will still end in Shanghai it looks like it'll make most sense to do a stop somewhere since only DL flies non stop and their D1 is insane direct. I will only worry about myself getting back so may end up routing through Japan again as I don't want to go out of my way to get home. Google looks like it's just ANA. Not sure if it makes sense to book the two flights separately or together, would also need biz.

This is a bad time to try spec booking since it's for spring and those all go quick and I'll hopefully be looking at Sept if they keep similar dates as this year.

Has anyone had an offer disappear after adding it to a Chase card? I added an AT&T offer that was good through 4/29/25 and it has disappeared from my offers. I should have just used it that day, but didn't and I assume now that it's not showing up in my offers, it's too late to use it??

Not in a long time.

Did you check the "Added offers" link?
In the past it would sometimes hide there instead of the main page.

Also is it possible that it was added to a different Chase card that you are currently looking at?

Can only speak to JAL. Cathay releases the earliest, but is the most expensive (from SFO anyways), and charges $100 redeposit fee. BA releases next, is slightly cheaper, and charges $55 redeposit. That was my preferred way. But it feels more competitive now, so going forward I think I'll do Cathay. AA is the cheapest and fully refundable, but releases a month later. For me, it's only a good option if I didn't catch the BA release. Alaska is a little more, but good if I'm low on AA. The partner fee of $12.50 is nonrefundable.

News just out today that you can redeem Jetblue for JAL now. It opens the same day as AA. Might be good if it's less miles than AA. Plus can transfer from Chase and Amex (less than 1:1 for Amex though).

We're flying to/from Shanghai from Japan. Booked JAL with Alaska for 7500 miles in economy.

I should have enough AA miles and have both MR and UR I can transfer. I don't have enough Alaska and given my current cc plan won't be able to get enough before then. I don't want to transfer to Hawaiian and then AS if I don't need them. I always make sure to have some AS but I rarely use them.

My biggest concern is creating accounts for any that I may use so it's not brand new as I know with some that can cause issues both in transferring points and in the flight getting canceled. I can at least do that and then start looking at stuff after my trip next month when everything should be put of april and Sakura season.

ETA I also need to watch what AS does with their flights. I know it won't be as good as JAL but a lie flat is a lie flat to me. And it being new may make it easier, no one really prepositions to take biz from here on JAL or ANA they'd rather do it for 1st which doesn't fly from SEA.

Got an interesting offer by e-mail for my Hyatt card. Was wondering if they can actually tell it's recurring vs me going in and making a partial payment every month. But my past recurring payments show "This is a repeating charge", so I guess they can.

Set up and make at least 3 monthly recurring payments with 3 different service providers for 3 consecutive months by November 30, 2025 in the select categories listed below and you’ll receive 5,000 Bonus Points.

I've gotten these before with Chase but it usually just a statement credit and after spending xx amount in xx transactions.
I would just make xx payments for the specified amount on the same day and it would credit.

The recurring stipulation must be new.

so for you 2 I saw this on another cc thread I'm on its a link from flyertalk/reddit that people collaborated to see where credits work and where.

So now not to throw a wrench in the mix but JAL flights are bookable from jetblue now I don't see anything from the East Coast but there is a ton from the West Coast.

New England/Canada (Newport, Boston, Portland, Saint John, Halifax) round trip out of NYC. I grew up in CT and my mom took me to Newport several times--I love the mansions! I honestly don't know how much more travel she has in her (although she loves it) so I'm really glad she was willing to go with me.

I lived in Newport for 3 years and I also love the mansions! Actually trying to take a run up to the Cape this summer and I'll drop by two places, Newport and Sakonnet, in addition to Hyannis.

Was just going to post about this to see if an ezpass might qualify under transit and commuting! My auto add for ezpass is just $25 so it will get charged at least once a month. In addition to that I have gas heat and it's hot from May to November! The gas company charges a small maintenance bill each month of less than $15. Then I could move my cellphone bill to it for 3 months, so fairly easy and doesn't add up to that much spend.

All three of these are the same charge each month during this time period, so shouldn't throw anything off.

Doing this cruise out of Boston in August - minus Newport - we have Sydney, NS instead. Our first three cruises were on Princess roughly 25 years ago - since then we have taken nearly 20 cruises but none on Princess, so we are looking forward to sailing them again.

I am so excited. I've only cruised Disney. My mom has cruised Disney, HAL, RCI (not a fan), and Celebrity. I think she'll really enjoy this trip. Just praying she stays healthy and mobile.

How would they know if these were recurring or just one-off payments you made 1x per month for 3 months? I think I will just make sure I pay some amount to my utilities/phone etc. from my Hyatt for the three month period and hope for the best, rather than changing my auto pays. What's annoying is that my gym membership is on my hyatt card, but since its a community center as well as a gym, it shows up as a charitable contribution instead of a fitness membership :headache:
