We have 4 cats and they all shed(of course) I've always had the problem of cat hair on clothes, furniture, etc. but it has never been too hard to deal with. Last month, my DS got a black fleece hoodie. He wears the dang thing everyday(yes, even today when it was 14 degrees outside:scared1: ) That thing just attracts cat hair and lint like nobody's business! I mean, I have used 15 layers of a lint roller to get it somewhat clean, and then by the next day it is covered again! Am I just out of luck or is there something I can do to keep the cat hair from sticking? I bought Static Guard but that stuff is useless!

Oh, sorry. Getting cat hair off is impossible. Really, I only buy black clothing because my cats x 3 fur matches it better. Honestly, shaking or tossing in the dryier might also help but cat fur is worse than anything else to me cause it is so fine.

I have yet to find anything to keep cat hair from sticking to clothes. We tried that new bounce that is supposed to keep it under control, that was just a waste of money.

I keep the Scotch lint rollers on hand all the time. I keep one by my recliner, one in my van, and one in my desk drawer at work. I wear alot of black and navy pants to work and with six cats, one of which has long white hair, there is no way I can get out of the house without being covered.

Owner of three pugs that shed uncontrollably :scared: I feel your pain.

The only thing I can tell you is that I sometimes I throw an item of clothing in the dryer on 'fluff' if it's really hairy, and depending on the fabric, it may come off.

If it's one of those fleecey type sweatshirts that looks like it's a pilled texture,
'furgettaboutit' - there's no hope. :rotfl:

Do you have a Furminator? It won't take fur off of clothes, but it soooo helps with the shedding. With over 2000 positive Amazon reviews, this is no gimmick. :cool1:

Other then that, the only thing that helps with fur on clothes, is one of those sticky tape lint rollers. I haven't found any other lint brush yet that works effectively on clothes.

Thanks, I may get one of those things. The cat one is less than $20. Of course, then I need the time to comb every cat, LOL. DO you need to do it every day for it to work?

Has anyone ever heard of/used the Magic Fur Ball? It goes in the dryer and is supposed to release hairs from clothes and send them to the lint trap. I may buy one of those too. Poor me, we have cats with black hairs, brown hairs, tan hairs and white hairs. We're doomed! LOL

I think the fabric in the hoodie may be part of the problem. My Maine coon's light gray long hair doesn't stick badly to my wool clothing (even the black clothing), but I have a pair of microfiber yoga pants and a hoodie that seem to attract the hair. I have noticed that fabric that tends to have a lot of static picks up the most hair.

Being the owner of 3 collies, I have learned not to buy fleece items. In fact, I feel all fabrics before I buy any clothing to see if it will be a hair magnet. I was looking at some lee khakis a few weeks ago int he JCP sale ad, but when I checked them out at the store, I knew they'd grad the dog hair so I didn't buy them.

You are pretty much out of luck. Sorry!

We have two orange tabbys and they shed constantly, even when they're brushed every day. I spend a lot of time wearing black (including a tux) for my band gigs and have to wait until the last minute to get dressed, not sit on anything, and stay away from the cats. My grandson's wife (granddaughter-in-law?) was telling me about something you cann add to their food that reduces shedding while giving them a healthier coat of fur. I'll have to give her a call and get the name again, but it should be available in most pet supply stores.

I like the idea of shaving the cats, but I shed, too, and I'm afraid my wife would get the idea to shave me. :scared1:

Easy....

Buy your clothing and home decor the same color as the cats' fur.

one of my sons has his cat shaved each spring.

the fur grows back completely in about 3 months.
less shedding when it does all return.

his cat has a horrible time with fur balls in the summer.
the vet recommended having the cat shaved as she does her 3 twice a year.

My cat has a 3 day shedding cycle. So I brush her about every 3 days. More in the summer, as she seems to shed for 3 days straight, then nothing for a couple days. I used to have fur ball/dust bunnies, literally the size of a gerbil in corners and nooks & crannies, even where I had already vacuumed. The Furminator literally has stopped all that.

Get the MEDIUM size Furminator, not the small. It's only about a half inch wider, but yes, $10 more. You want to think in terms of, a slightly wider brush means less sweeps over each cat. My cat actually likes being Furminated. :lmao: She will sit there and let me brush her for a time. But once she's had enough, she's done. I like a big enough brush to be finished by the time she starts getting snarly.

<sigh!> Yes, I have also had to give up wearing velvet, velour and corduroy. :( I found these beautiful velvet drapes I wanted to turn into a throw over my couch, but it was a plush velvet. Unless I wanted to turn my couch into a big cat fur collector, there was no way I could use that material. Same with a gorgeous comforter cover for my bed.

Swiping down my clothes with a lint brush is pretty much the last thing I do before leaving the house.
