What rides are okay? Which one's are off limits?

I've heard something about a "pink" pass? What is that for? How do you get one?

Other tips and tricks?

(P.S. - sister is coming along and will be 5 mos pregnant, and needs the help, so thanks in advance for answering!)

Basically, the only ride with a HR that she'll want to ride is Soarin. I also avoided the teacups and Francis' Ladybug Boogie. The other rides should be fine! I went three time while pregnant with my youngest and have never heard of a pink pass.

Be sure to let her sit often and have snacks with and drink plenty of water. :)

I've never heard of a "Pink" pass at Disneyland. A quick Google Search indicated that Disneyland Paris has something called a "Pink" pass, but nothing came up for DLR.

Disneyland's website has a filter that you can use to see which attractions have an Expectant Mother Warning. Some say it's fine to ride whatever you want, others are more cautious. It's up to the pregnant person to decide for themselves, but I would avoid anything that spins fast, throws you around, or runs the risk of squishing the stomach area.

Off limits are all the big ticket rides, anything with a height restriction. I'm pretty sure you can find which ones are not recommended on the website. When I was pregnant, my 3yr old was under 40" so I just rode the ones he could ride. Some exceptions were- Autopia, Mater's Junkyard and Luigi's Tires. Of those three, only Mater's doesn't carry a warning, but since it really whips you around, I thought I should avoid it. Some people will say that the rides are smooth, why worry. I've read that the cautions are more about how they stop should there be a problem with the ride. The main worry is uterine or placental detachment.

Some good tips I found were to rest as much as her body tells her too, drink lots of water, and wear compression socks.

Have fun!

I just wrote an article for the Dis called "What to Expect When You're Expecting...at Disney" and I hope they choose to publish it! Anyway, I was 8 months pregnant at Disneyland, so I can share what I did.

If you're pregnant and going to Disneyland, talk to your doctor first. Ask him/her what kind of attractions are safe and what you should avoid. Every pregnancy is different and what might be deemed okay for one person might be dangerous for someone else.

I stuck to slow moving rides with no height requirements - it's a small world, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc.

I went at 6 months in 2011. No coasters, Indy. I did do the teacups probably not the best choice. I've also done WDW at around 6 months with both boys. That is when I was feeling the best. Over the hump, not in the huge stage yet. There is still lots to see and do.

Assuming there isn't any special conditions with the pregnancy (no high risk conditions, etc), most doctors will say it's okay to ride anything without a height restriction. Soarin' is a fair exception--it's smooth and calm.

I think the most important thing is to have her talk to her doctor. They will really be able to help her figure out what is the best plan for her. There are so many factors that go into the decision, like how far along you are, what your health is like, etc.

Just as an example, I went to a local amusement park when I was early in my pregnancy (around 10 weeks) with my first DD. I had no risk factors, and the baby was the size of a shrimp. She cleared me to go on ANYTHING. Now, it was my first pregnancy, and it didn't seem like a big deal at the time, so I went on a double loop roller coaster! I probably wouldn't do that now, but at the time, I wasn't a bit worried. And it turned out fine! Baby turns 6 on Friday, and is a super smart and healthy kid.

Then a few years later, I was pregnant with DD #2 and going again. But I was much farther along. Still no risk factors, but that big belly wouldn't do too well in a seat belt. So doc had me skip anything with a height requirement of over 42 inches. I could still go on a surprising amount of rides, but no double loop coasters this time.

Anyway, that's a long way of saying that it really depends on the person and what their unique medical situation is. Have her talk to her doctor and see what she is healthy enough to do. If she has blood pressure issues, or pelvic organ prolapse, her options are going to be much more limited than a woman who still runs 25 miles a week during her 8th month.

Personally, I would avoid ALL of the rides with height restrictions. Anything that spins/whips you around to me. Better safe than sorry.

Some may say you can ride most things, but I guess my thought is...if something WERE to happen, even if it was completely unrelated to a ride...would you blame yourself? I know that for me, I totally would. So best not to be put into that situation.
