How far in advance are people walking reservations?

I think you are right because this used to work for me and now it does not. You can't hit the search until 8 am!
Resurrecting this thread to ask a question about trying to book at 7 months out since I have never tried it before and would like to try to book VGC sometime in the near future. Do you hit "Search" in the upper left after already entering in all of the information on the "Booking" page, or do I need to be on the "Booking" page and hit "Check Availability" on the bottom right?

Also, is the time to do this 8:00 AM exactly, or 8:00:01? I set this up to practice this morning (set my alarm for 4:45 AM Pacific), and was all ready to do this, and at 8:00 I hit "Check Availability," and then on the next page when I scrolled down to "Continue," I got the error message that said something went wrong and to do something like Start Over, or "Close and Refresh Page," so I chose "Close and Refresh Page," but then the nights I wanted were gone. So did I click too early?

Thanks for any help!

You need to perform your search at 8:00 AM. Set up your search so you're searching exactly the dates, resorts, and room types you want. Then at 8:00:00 click Search. As soon as possible book the room. If you're lucky, you'll get it.

Thank you for your reply! The places I can click are either "Check Availability" at the bottom right of the Booking Page, or "Search" in the upper left of the next page once I have already clicked on "Check Availability" button. So do I just wait on the page that has a small "Search" word in the upper left?

Get your search set up how you want it, as narrowed down as possible, before 8AM (but not too far before, because the system can time you out and force you to log back in). At exactly 8AM, click Check Availability.

Thank you! I am just not lucky. I practiced again and clicked as fast as humanly possible and the night was gone in a blink. Not sure how people do this on a regular basis with any success. I feel like I must be missing something :sad1:.

Right now, because of how popular it is, it really is hard to get certain rooms.

I got really lucky and got a RIv RV studio for first week of December.

Put in a waitlist and got my second one already. So, keep the faith!! Even just got my VGF waitlist filled!

Have been trying to score BWV standard studio since my 11 month window for March 2024 opened but the first day is never available. Wondering how far in advance are people walking their reservations? I have notice them being dropped off after but still unable to get the amount of days I need. Now trying for May 2024 and have been logging on every morning before 8am and the first day is still not even available to book in order to walk a reservation.
You’re running into the springtime surprise race weekend bookings

This changed again recently. You can again search before 8 and then click continue right at 8.

Wait really?! Going to try this method tomorrow… I’ve struck out for weeks trying what I thought was the current way.

Someone told me like three weeks ago and I didn’t believe it until I tried with a dummy reservation at Saratoga at 8AM and it worked. Started the search like 3 minutes before and then continued after 8 and it let me go through.

My memory is bad, it was more than three weeks ago lol (I know I tested it for a December booking, so maybe that was three weeks ago). Hopefully they haven’t changed it back 😅

are all the resorts 8 am Eastern? I don't want to get up at 4:45 for my Disneyland bookings :)

Considering doing a 2 month walk. Has anyone tried this?
It is very hard to walk a low point week 2 months as you need enough points for the high point weeks ahead. Sometimes I try doing 3-4 days but you can get jumped on BW by 7 day walkers

I'm sure plenty do this...the only issue as mentioned above is do you have enough current points to get through fluctuations in seasons. I walked for our reservation this summer for almost 2 months but since most of june/july/august are the same points it was easy to move forward until I got to my wanted dates then adding a day on the end which increased how many points I needed.

Nobody can jump ahead of you if you're walking at the 11 month window.

Yes, I walked our BWV GV for the 2025 Marathon for two months. But before I started, I sat down and calculated exactly how many points I would need each time I walked it, and I also calculated how I'd need to shorten the length of my reservation in order to get over the higher-point "humps" of Thanksgiving and Christmas without borrowing more points than I would actually need. I walked it pretty much every day, too, because I was afraid that something might happen to prevent me from modifying it on schedule, and I'd lose it!

I want to go for the holidays in 2026 and I have a February use year so I will probably start walking in March of this year once the 11 month window crosses into the 2026 use year.
