How does someone get ahead of me walking?

Okay I am walking and I know that is controversial... so I acknowledge that first...
But I was starting to walk a 1 bed value akl room with the 11month priority....
I have sept 9th- sept 12th
I am trying to move it today by one day to the 10th... but someone already has 12th is blocked... how is that possible? Shouldn't I have technically blocked it...
The 10th is as far out as you can book with 11 month priority.
Bah...

The same thing occurred with BWV studios for Sept. 10. It's either an intentional effort to thwart walking or a glitch from the often celebrated Disney IT division

Basically, someone books a reservation to start a day that isn’t the real date they want to check in.

Then, they move it forward before someone else can book that room until you get to your actual dates.

Other possibilities: a fixed week contract holds the 11th; rooms planned to be out of service. Either way there could be too few remaining rooms for all the walkers.

Those could be reasons a room isn’t there, but no one else can get it outside of that.

Easiest way to think of it is to think about the actual room. You book the blue room for 7 days.

That means, no one else can book the blue room until those 7 days are up. At any point, during those 7 days you should be allowed to move it forward because you locked in the blue room.

If a date is gone and you can’t extend, then it’s a glitch in the system, or one of the two examples you stated, but it’s not anyone else.

DisneyMountainWoman, if I am reading your post correctly, you have your dates booked for 9/9 to 9/12. This means you are checking in on the 9th and checking out on the 12th. Therefore, your last FULL day/night booked is really the 11th. Booking days are for the nights of your stay.
That means you did not actually have the 12th booked because that is your check out day. As I understand it, in order to have continued your walk, you needed to have booked again starting the 11th. I hope this makes sense.

But there aren’t Fixed Weeks at Animal Kingdom and BWV 🤔
I see this all too often at BWV, like somehow day 3 is the only day greyed out. For rooms that just underwent full refurbishment, is there really a need to take them offline 11 months from now all day long for maintenance? Shoot, I’ve had dishwashers and ACs replaced in our hotel room within 2 or 3 hours. A certain amount of ‘maintenance’ can be done during the 11am-4pm window that occurs everytime a room has a checkout, especially when DVC thinks 6pm seems acceptable for a checkin time.

If they have the room booked from the 9th to the 12th, they should be able to move it forward today, the 10th, or tomorrow the 11th, and no one else can take the 12th in their room.

So, the fact the system blocked them, the system was not seeing their room anymore.

It can not be taken by another guest because another guest can’t check into that specific room until the OP checks out on the 12th..and the 11 month window hasn’t opened yet for the 12th

I would be aggravated but not surprised anymore, unfortunately. We sold our AKV contracts because we weren't able to get what we wanted at 11 months. We just use SAP points at 7 months and we actually have a 1 BR Value for three nights at Halloween. Go figure...

As for the IT glitches, well they always happen just when you are one click away from getting the villa you want. I hope can stalk it! Hang in there!

I am having that issue too at Boardwalk. Technically I have through the night of the 11th, so I can try again after 8.

I had it happen previously and had to call to get it "unlocked". I may be on the phone with Disney later today.

They told me I modified it too many times. Sorry, but that is your problem to fix and not mine. There is nothing that states I cannot change my reservation every day or as many times as I want.

I think they do it to try and stop people from walking.

I’m curious - how many attempts at AKV before you decided to sell? I bought BWV earlier this year in the hopes of securing a two-bedroom BW-view for August. I did end up getting it but had to sweep the leftovers of the walkers for 2 weeks. I’m actually debating selling bc I never anticipated August being difficult. 😞

I can't remember, but at least a couple years. We are just getting started buying BCV and I am wondering if that might be a problem there as well. Between the bots and now DVC apparently limiting walking somewhat is it worth owning anything other than SAP? I have 10 days to back out and I am seriously thinking it may be just more of the same....

:poop:

I have only modified it once... so don't think they locked it. I just started walking it.

Does anyone think calling would help?
