How do you ripen a peeled mango?

Or is my mango a lost cause? I thought it was ripe so I started to peel it, and it's still not ripe inside. Is there any way to ripen it now that it's partly peeled? I hate to throw out a whole mango (that wasn't cheap). Drat!

I am not sure if this will work, but you might try to leave in a paper bag with an apple on the counter for a few hours and see if that does it. It works for bananas, so it might work for mangos

If the mango doesn't have the outter skin and you just leave it, it will start to turn mushy if you don't eat it within a few days.
I'm curious, how much did you pay for that mango?

Your going to have to throw it out, and next time the mangos get ripe on the tree in my backyard I will send you a box lol.

Just how un-ripe are we talking about? Green on the outside? If it is at least partly ripe, you can make some mango salsa which goes really well with fish or chicken.

Also with green mango you can slice it into wedges and dip it into a vinegar and soy sauce mixture. It doesn't sound good to me either but some locals (residents) here like it.

Thanks for the advice! I paid $1.50 for the mango. It's still slightly green on the inside of the peel. It looked ripe from the outside and was pretty soft, plus it's been sitting on my counter next to some bananas for a few days, so I thought it was ready. I rarely buy them but was craving one, my boys love them too. I have the worst luck with mango's!! This one is probably all pulpy like all the other ones I've bought in the past anyway. I'm never buying another mango again, too frustrating. LOL I'll just eat them at my inlaw's, they always get the best ones!

Catzeyes-I'd LOVE that!!:teeth: ::yes::

People here (Dominican Republic) eat green mangoes with salt or cut them into pieces and pun them in their salads. I don't think it can ripen once it's peeled.

BTW, your baby is sooooooooo cute!!!
