One member of our group has a dairy allergy. How is this handled at Hoop Dee Doo?

What is the allergy

We have a tree nut,
peanut / crustacean, and
A beet allergy in the family…..

Chef assured us there were no tree nuts….

The child with the tree nut allergy had a reaction….

Turns out something with walnuts was cooked ovens that they use to make the corn bread and not properly cleaned

It's a dairy allergy.

It's a dairy allergy.
Ribs don't have dairy in them.....
Everything else pretty much does....

I think even the chicken, and the salad dressing....

I would call them.

My wife also has a dairy intolerance and had dairy pills with her there....

Also have tree nut allergy in family and chef advised against the corn bread in case of exactly what you mentioned. I'm really surprised chef on duty didn't do the same on your trip. Should've been handled better than that. Most of the chefs we have spoken to over the years have been very thorough.

Most likely We are the reason….

the chef and the manager both checked in on him the next day, and both informed us that they would be changing how they addressed the tree nut allergy….

overall the allergy chefs at Disney are really good. I have been overall very impressed over the years….

honestly, most all the restaurants have allergy kitchens, i don‘t know why the hop dee doo doesn’t

my biggest complaint, is actually with my wife’s beet allergy…..

‘’every single waiter will say we have no beets in the restaurant what so ever…..

i then ask two questions:

do you have make greens,
‘do you have anything with red food coloring….

they say yes, and both have beets….

we have had to educate a few wait staff, but overall, if you ask for the chef, they get them….

The at OHana was amazing, he wrote the allergy policy for the poly…..

he had the the chef at captain cook make my wife a beet / dairy free desert…. It was amazing

When you check in, you can tell them of the allergy. There is a good chance the person with the dairy allergy will have to eat the vegan menu. Not sure if they would be happy with that? I can say that I loved it.

My wife has a salt allergy/intolerance and we were there recently. We notified them in the reservation when we made the reservation. The day before we were going we received a text message confirming the allergy and were told to speak with the chef at check in??? Well when we went to check in it’s a line outside and they give you a ticket with your table number. There is a chef standing there and discussing the individual allergies with everyone. Well when we checked in my wife went to speak with the chef and he said I’m already cooking your chicken with no salt (she doesn’t eat ribs). They had a special salad and vegetables for her as well. When she spoke with the chef she asked if it was possible to get French fries with no salt and they gave her that too. Extremely accommodating. Since it’s such a weird allergy my wife has and Hoop Dee Doo is a set menu we did send an email to Disney dining prior just to be safe

We had the same experience when we ate there years ago. My DH has a dairy allergy and DM has a salt intolerance. We had not e-mailed special diets but put it on our ADR. When we checked in they asked about the allergies as did the waiter who brought a chef out. Disney is so great with allergies we can eat at buffets and even Liberty Tree Tavern.
